I'm from Chicago too. I got ticket in 1 month and just said f%^& it and put it on. It doesn't look that bad as long as you mount it right.

I wouldnt run one at all but if you must, then doesnt Rexspeed make a carbon fiber mount that is like the OEM one that puts it off to the side but is 1x1 carbon? I mean if you are gonna run that thing might as well do it with a little bit of style right?

The stock mount looks like crap. And to further **** me off, the local automatic car wash thing really bends/mangles the $&*% out of the thing every time i go there. I'd certainly like to see some pics of some alternatives.

I'd prefer to avoid getting pulled over for any reason at all, so I still want the front plate on the car.

I am currently fabricating L brackets out of aluminum that will drill in up under the bumper inlet and place the plate in the stock location without drilling the front of the bumper. Then put a soft rubber backing on it, BAM no visible holes when I leave Germany

+1^ The oem license plate bracket is fugly.

I just found some small L brackets at a local hardware store, drilled two holes underneath the driver side bumper opening to mount the plate/bracket.
Used a strip double sided foam tape to hold the plate flush against the bumper and avoid scratching the paint.

I got pulled over last night for no front plate. I'm usually very sympathetic toward the police, but I really didn't care for the officers' attitude and lack of professionalism. I was tempted to ask weather he called the SWAT team to the scene, given his/their approach. Hell, I was the only non-police car on the road and my cynical side thinks that someone had to show his boss that he/they (there were two of them) were doing something. It was my first stop in +10 years.

BTW, having a front plate in the front window isn't legal, at least in NY. It's also very dangerous in case of an accident, as the plate will fly into the cabin, rivaling the velocity of a cruise missile.

Alter The Stock License Plate Mount To Shave Some Inches =)

Just Alter The Stock License Plate Mount To Shave Some Inches =) Take off the holder and pull out the bracket and bend it around to shave inches so the license plate is barely touching your bumper. Only good for people who bought evos who already had that crap drilled to your bumper though.

I never really care about the plate i only cared about how much it stuck out from the bumper looked fuglyy.
And yes it needs a wash
