I didn't know this, is that why boost will flutter between 17 and 20 on the freeway, say a 4th gear pull from 60-65ish.
What do you recommend for a replacement? Forge?

Get the evo 9 BOV that one will hold a lot more boost then the 8. And if u want to turn the boost up more get a meth kit and a good tune. I would not turn it up past 21 myself but i play it real safe. But there is a lot more mods to get if u want to improve ur evo besides turning up the boost. Best one in my books is driver mod.

I'm working on the driver mod I found out I am really bad at auto x, 13.61 at the 1/4. But my trap was low, like 97.
I actually called the dealer by my house to see if they had any IX diverter valve/bov. At first he didn't know what I was talking about. "what exactly are you diverting?" Then asked if I meant wastegate. To which I told him "No, its on the intake side..." He put me on hold for a bit while he was "researching" came back and asked if it was related to emissions....
Me: "look under the section that will have intercooler piping"
Dumbass Parts Guy: (in condescending voice)"I guess I could check there"..."I found something called an air bypass valve? Is that what you are looking for"
Me: (thinking to myself "really now? you can't see that its the same thing with a different name")"Yeah, that sounds like it, different part for the '06??"
Parts guy: (again, talking to me like I'm a dumbass)"no its for all of them...wait, yeah 06 only"
I hate dealers so much.
This is the same guy that wouldn't sell me a header bolt because I had an aftermarket header... complete moron with no business behind a parts counter.
then he asked me why I thought I needed the '06 dv, was I doing some sort of aftermarket modification. To which I told him it was an upgrade that the later models had that the older ones didn't, that it was a superior part lol. I felt like he was trying to void my warranty lol. why work in the car industry when you HATE cars and couldn't point out the difference between and alternator and a water pump.

Yea i have that problem from the dealer too. Just look on here at the personal section i am sure some one on here has one for sale that would be cheaper then the dealer. I'm still working on the driver mod myself too. I need to get more time to go to the track. So what mods do u have right now?

Its got a catback and boost guage So basically stock. Dynoed at 245 whp 249 wtq. The car is plenty fast stock for now. I plan on keeping on top of boost leaks and maintenance. I have run better times then some modded evos, one with turbo back/tune/meth injection, and another with an injen intake, turbo back and tune. So I'm kinda wary about modding it lol.

OP, I spike at 23 psi with the mods in my sig with the addition of an upgraded fmic, pipes and a new bov.

You can run whatever boost you want it really comes down to your tuner.

Remember there comes a point when turning up the boost becomes a deminishing return.

If you have any further questions I would be more than happy to help.

Just send me a pm.
