Part of doing research is asking questions

I though it was tarmac, gravel, and snow.

Well im a new owner too and i had the same question...

All it does is tell the ACD how sensitive the clamping force should be...from what i read its probably always best to leave it in tarmac mode. I did a pretty extensive search..but i found the info. I don't blame you for asking..i was afraid to ask.

ACD - Active Center Differential

Distributes power between the front and rear wheels as needed.

From what I understand, the ACD changes the locking characteristics between the left and right wheels while turning. So in Tarmac mode, it will unlock the left and right wheels as soon as you begin to turn (Inside wheels travel slower than outside wheels). In gravel/snow mode, the ACD will keep the left and right wheels locked longer as you turn, to increase the amount of power and traction needed in a low traction environment. It does not change the amount of power between the front and real wheels, only side to side.
