Daily Driver Mods

Hi I'm the happy owner of a stock white '06 evo IX that I got with 15K miles. I wanted a stock evo cause it's my daily driver (gonna get something a little more exotic eventually). I've put about 3500 miles on it since I bought it and for a stock car it's amazing - I've already smoked a couple mustangs, civics and other wannabe garbage. Right now I'm running Blizzaks and yesterday I was tearing up some fun windy roads in southern ohio in the rain and the tires didn't once break loose no matter how hard I pushed it. Probably not a great idea cause I have so many speeding tickets I got a letter in the mail suspending my driver's license literally the day after I bought it. But we were going to one of my friend's cage fights and all the other cars were too full to ride more ppl plus I heard southern Ohio roads were killer and it didn't disappoint. He won 2nd round KO.

Enough BS -
I want to mod it, but I don't want to do anything that would make it less drivable on a daily basis. Could somebody give me some suggestions on what mods I could get for this car that would make it faster, maybe better sounding. Also, could I get some approximate prices so I can know if it's something I gotta buy or something I can put on my Crimmas list. And I also would like to know how tough parts are to install because I want to do all the work myself. I've done plenty of work on small motors (dirtbikes, quads) but haven't worked on cars.

Thanks all!

3" Turbo back exhaust, Drop in K&N filter, Manual boost controller and a tune would be a nice DD setup.

Are K&N dropin's better than the kind that take out the airbox cause I don't like the look of the airbox when I pop the hood...

well first off...you are going to get asked to use the search button alot so be prepared for that...

second...since its Thanksgiving and i cant do anything but sit at home on my comp cuz my nose is broken ill help you out.

Basic Mods are:
Exhaust-anywhere from $500-$1000 depending on the exhaust(i run the agency power ti. Its loud, sets off alarms, i like it)

Downpipe-$150-$250

High Flow Cat(HFC)/Rally Cat or Test Pipe(TP)-$40-$200
o2 Housing-$120-$200

Manual Boost Controller(MBC) or Electronic Boost Conrtroller(EBC)-Price varies but MBC are cheaper around $50-$100
EBC are more expensive, around $150-$800 depending on the brand
(best bet is to get EBC so you can adjust from inside the car, for different weather conditions, tuning purposes, or just to turn it up in a quick race/spirited run)

Boost Gauge-$50-$300

Tune-there are many tuning vendors here so PM them about that

Everything is easy installation...i did everything myself except boost gauge and controller only cuz i didnt have enough time and had it tuned by a professonal cuz im still learning about that

for $1350 you can get Buschur's stage one. it has

BR air filter kit
BR 3" downpipe
BR 3" high flow cat
BR 3" catback exhaust
BR manual boost controller
Buschur flash
autometer boost gauge and steering column gauge pod.

You'll be making roughly 315 whp on a mustang dyno

I'm in the same boat as the OP. All the replies are steering you in the right direction. A few simple bolts ons and a quality tune will get you exactly what you want. Maybe add an AEM WB o2 sensor to keep tabs on your A/F ratio. Always a good idea when you're exceeding stock boost levels

FedEvo8's advice is spot on. This is the best bang for the buck. Just be sure to go to a reputable tuner. Heck, you're in Ohio. I would go to Buschur.
