Thinking about trading my car for an Evo

Right now i drive a 350Z and am thinking about getting an Evo IX, the Z is too small and im in college so i need something somewhat bigger...what do you guys think? good idea? bad idea?

Are there any problems i should look for when buying one? Any future problems i should watch out for?

thanks

I bought my evo when I was 19 and made me a wannabe F&F. Since you're still young, you'll get bitten by the speed bug very soon enough. As far as your doubts in performance, let a test drive do all the talking.

the evo is reliable if you change the motor tranny diff fluids ALL THE TIME. but putting miles on it will drasticley depreceate its value$$. i would recomend the evo for someone who loves cars and will end up keeping for a LONG time.

I dont know about all this maintenance talk, I have ~24K on my evo and the only thing I had to do was oil changes and replaced my clutch @ 14K miles. BTW, I beat my evo like a red-headed stepchild. Maybe I am just lucky. oh yea, I almost forgot.... I had to lock-tite a nut on my manfold..... Damn thing kept loosening up.

The Evo does require a lot of maintenance but if you can do most of it yourself then you can save a lot of money. Don't let that scare you away from an evo. You can spend just as much on your 350z as well, just really depends. For your sake though just check on your insurance rates first though because it will def. be higher than your 350z. Oh well good luck bro.

I really don't feel the Evo requires too much maintenance, but when your maintining a drift car and using it as your DD the Evos easy . The only weak link is the clutch which has gone out as early as 7-10k miles, but my 03' VIII lasted 50k miles exactly before the clutch needed to be replaced. It had gone though a few mtn. runs up in Dahelonga, but I like to think im not too hard on it either. Just change the oil, trans, and diff fluids regularly and it'll be fine.
