I've changed my DV 3 times - from the stock plastic 8, to a Forge DV-15, to an MR 9, back to the stock 8 DV. Any other valve fluttered to varying degrees making steady-state throttle a nightmare. When the car bucks and kicks, you tend to not give a crap what the DV sounds like.

Keep the stock one or get a forge. I had a blitz one which was alright it held 23psi but the sound get really annoying. I traded it for a forge DV and i love it. Sounds cool and holds boost really good.

APS BOV... a tad louder than stock and no stalling issue.

BTW, i have a new one for sale which came from a APS single turbo kit for the 350z. $100 shipped!

Stick with the stocker. With my HKS RS Intake my stock BOV is plenty loud....probably too loud for anyone not into that type of thing. perfect for me though.

Supposedly the stock 8 DV is good up to 20?21? lbs of boost, and the 9 DV is good for a few more lbs before they begin to leak. My Defi boost gauge shows 25-26lbs of boost w/ the 9 valve holding no problem. So IMO, I'd say your DV change is dictated by how much boost you're planning on pushing. Once you get into the upper 20's then I'd say you'll need to look for something stronger than stock

Getting a cone filter intake will help with performance and sound. I ran the aps duel vent. Great BOV. sounds gread and doesent mess with driability. A lot of people say its ricy but everyone loves that sound! Good luck

You want sound and perfomance? Well since I need to put my car back to stock Ill trade your IX BOV for my TURBOSMART Dual Port BOV or ill sell it.... Its a nice bov, its got sounds, holds boost, u can adjust it from soft to hard, etc... its on sale for 264.00 on Lancershop.com (its original price is 299.00)

I just put on a TurboSmart dual port BOV the other day which both recirculates and vents to the atmosphere.

Sounds awesome and the drives like stock. I'm still keeping my stock IX DV just incase though.

OEM BOV... not sure if all the IXs have metal ones or just the MR, but on non-MR VIII's it was plastic, and I have been told the metal BOV from the MR holds more boost than the plastic ones... heres another option from GFB that lets you VTA to get the sound you want and it dumps some air back into the intake track (recirculating it) so you supposedly get no drivability problems, but still get the sound:

I dont have one so I cant tell you how well it works, but this setup or something similar might be your best bet if you want the sound of a VTA...

edit: just noticed what the guy above my post wrote- thats a similar BOV to the link I posted, it would work the same as the GFB
