That was great, clear, condensed information. Thanks! Great Post.

So the ACD became available in 05 then... Good to know.

Just so you guys know where I'm going with this...

I'm retiring the Talon TSi Stage Rally Car and trying to determine which of my EVOs to prepare in its place... and VIII or the IV.

I'm comparing the differences against the Rules to determine the best power and options fit.

So that's why the oddball questions.

Thanks for all your help, by the way.

I had read that the 286 hp was a result of the "agreement" that Mitsu made in order to bring the EVO into the States... in reality, the cars dyno right out of the box at well more than the posted 286 hp.

Is that true?

Thats why I got the MR.

I like the RS but couldn't deal with necessities like ABS, power windows and the wing that makes the car look like an Evo.

Oh... one other question...

I have heard people mention this different ways, but the headlights between the 8 and 9 are different ONLY in the pattern or layout of the colors, NOT the housing itself, correct?

the 9 has a darker chrome housing vs the 8.

03-04 had HID+ fog standard. 05, and 06 had HIDs+fogs on the MR, SSL, and 06 SEs.

The best model, and I am sure everyone can agree for performance is the '06 Evo IX.

More or less, with the same mods those cars dyno about 20-30 more whp than the evos with out MIVEC. Those guys are running low 12's to high 11's with a tune and turbo back exhaust while '05 guys are running about mid to high 12's with those same mods and the '03 and '04 guys are running around high 12's (based on the 10.5 hotside that is not there on '03 and '04s).

So yea, if you can get a 9, I would highly recommend it. If not, get a cheap '03 and stick on the 10.5 hotside if you are keeping the stock turbo on it for a while or getting the evo 9 turbo is slightly different, so getting that and replacing it would probably be best.

Yes. All '05 and up models have the ACD standard.

Yeah... I've got a pic around somewhere like that. LOL!!!

Seriously, the highest I've ever been is about 2.5 - 3 feet and about 25 - 28 feet in length. I don't have the money cannon to afford jumping much farther. A couple of years ago my good buddy in his identical talon jumped his 4+ feet in the air at over 32 feet in length and it came down nose heavy (like all talons do) and pushed the core support and everything else up into the hood. NOT a pretty result , but the jump was spectacular!

I'm hoping the new EVO will jump better
