Oil change every 3k miles- $60-70

Tranny, transfer case, and differential every 8-10k miles- $150-250 depending on where you take it

Gas depends on how much you drive. Of course, it'll be cheaper if you do it all yourself.

You really need to do some researching buddy.

Just to give you an idea, and I'm not trying to scare you away, but here's what I've had to do to my Evo since I bought it new in June of 06 (currently at about 26k miles).

Tires - Michelin PS2s - $900
Brake pads - stock - $500
Clutch - $950 (not stock and only $500 was for labor. The dealer wanted $2000 and had trouble figuring out which clutch actually was supposed to go in the car)
Rotors - $480
Tires - Sumitomo HTR-Z IIIs - $400 (thats as cheap as you can get tires for this car)
Oil changes - 6 x $60 (dealer wants something like $150. I buy the oil and filter myself and drop it off at the local shop)

I autocross my car and drive the hell out of it on a daily basis, so this is not typical. But when you do have to replace stuff, its pricey.

2cents

My 2cents. I drive from Howell nj to ft.lee nj everyday 77miles each way 195,parkway,njtp to GWB and back . I have a 9 I love the car. However highway speed cabin has a fair amount of noise. The stock audio is weak the wing was not my thing I took it off 1.to flashy 2.line of rear view vision. It felt like I had a bobble head, up down to see out behind the wing. Service is pricey. The adjustment for the seat is impossible to reach while driving Daily long commute sometimes i wish I was in a Caddy. With that said I seriously love this car I dont want to drive anything else. Big decision, big investment think it out.

Oh and let's not forget it attracts cops, thieves, haters, and little high school boys.

Car Payment + Insurance + Gas (+ those odd months when stuff hits the fan)

My brother and I have had a race going for years with his LS6 Z28 v. my car. Its fun to race family. Last few years Ive been killing him but I think we might have a good run this summer on pump gas.

I drive 100+ a day and I love every minute of it. So much so I ditched my winter car and got the Evo back out.

This shouldn't be the main reason to buy an Evo but if you do, his cars will not even come close.

I find my 95 Integra to be a much better daily driver than the Evo. First off, the Evo is not a fun car to be in with stop and go Chicago traffic. Manual in general sucks, but I find it much easier to operate the clutch on the Integra.

Second, maintinence costs can be high for a mass produced vehicle. Much less than the Lotus Im looking at trading the Evo on, but the service schedule on the Evo is much more demanding than a Honda.

Third, a poorly looked after used Evo will cost many dollars to sort out. And unfortunately, most of the Evos in the US have been abused by over-zealous kids.

In the end, its your choice. But just remember, between service and insurance, its not just the cost of the car that should be the factor.

lol that is NOT the main reason by far this is one of those childhood dream cars that i have wanted like since 9 kind of things. Also i noticed with the price range that it is in it has amazing performance for what it can do and i think it will be one of those cars i will be able to enjoy for years to come. And i think that i am always going to be able to have fun going back forth everysingle time, untill that trany goes or w/e then it will be brief cursing but that isnt the point. I think that it will be a great performer and a great dd car for me.
