The way it happens is this...

Each region would be responsible to hold its own fundage (fund raisers, track events (that are open to other car makes to gain profits for savings) and such. Then each year a region would vie to hold the national event. So for example:

There would be a Cali region, Southwest region, Northwest region, Central region, Southeast region and a Northeast region. Say for example the Southwest region gains the most votes for an annual convention, they would then be responsible for fronting the funds for track reservations and then would make the money back on t-shirts, registrations, track fees, etc.

This annual event would then bounce around the country based on who wanted to take the initiative to hold the event.

To give you an example of when I was in the SR20 crowd. One year we held our convention in Dallas, then we had it in Pennsylvania, then San Diego, then Savannah, then Phoenix, this year it was supposed to be held in Vegas but was cancelled due to logistics not being met.

I can help make this work. It takes A LOT of work to pull off but there is NOTHING like the experience of getting together once a year with people from all over the country that share the same passion for their cars. I've made many great friends over the years through these conventions. Many drunk nights, a GREAT track event and all out bull****ting together.

I can't tell you guys enough how special this weekend is for everyone. I can ensure you all that it would be extremely memorable for all involved.

I think it's too late to get into the event for 08 but we sure as hell can start planning now for 09.

I have the basemap to make this happen. It's just a matter of gaining serious commitment from others to proceed.

Cheers-
Erich

Very nice, I really would like that. We got THE OFFICIAL 2008 Southeast Regional DSM/EVO Meet that's going on in Jacksonville next month, so if we were to do what you said in the above statement, all the other regions would have to also have their meets this year? Correct?

They would not HAVE to hold a meet. It would just give the southeast region an upper hand in holding the national event when the time comes to hold it since your region would have more funds to pull it off (from holding small events) and would have more viability since you held events.

For example, say the southeast region holds this meet you talk about and it has a ton of participants and is well publicized and shows that funds were made from registrations and tshirt sales etc.

Now the (just an example so don't bite my head off) the central region decides to hold the national event having had NO meets at all showing no real evidence of funds, holding meets experience, etc.

Who do you think would have more positive feedback about hosting the national event for that year? Correct, the southeast region.

Another issue is WHO holds these regional funds? Typically it was a regional committee voted on regional members that showed accountability. Then a national committee was voted on by the membership as a whole.
