VIII stock plastic BPV will leak over 21psi (on mine atleast). IX FQ340 will hold about 26-27psi but will flutter and leak before long (like mine is now with only 7k miles). Those are the only ones I have any experience with. I am looking for another solution.

VTA may cause idle/stalling issues (not just on Evo's)
Too stiff of a spring will cause flutter.
Too weak of a spring will cause the BOV to leak and or not hold much boost.

If only I could find the right mix of 26psi or so holding power with no flutter. Now that would be one hot ticket!

So I am not going to tell you what to do with your money. Give something an educated try and post the results.

You have PM! I have a Forge Recirculationg from Buschur Racing and Love it! I am curently selling the one I have due to getting an intercooler and Piping Flanged for a 1G BOV so I am purchasing another Forge like I have just flanged! But I love the way it holds boost, currently Im at 24 psi and will be at 28psi with meth very soon! If anyone is interested in the Forge BOV its $100 shipped! Heres a link to my for sale forum: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=318402

Sorry for high jacking your thread but that is also my suggestion for a great BOV!

SinCity, just so you know, the Turbo Smart is going to be fairly quiet too once you recirculate it! I had it and couldnt hear it at all, the Best set-up Ive found so far to hold boost and Have the sound with NO issues is the Forge Recirculated with Buschurs Mass Pipe and Filter kit! Great sounding but not a bad sneezing sound like some VTA BOVs.

I tried the type-s, HKS SSQV 1, Forge, Greddy RS, and APS. APS is the best performing valve, period. I have a Tial coming in tomorrow to see how I like that with EIDS (and yes I know the A/F's will be thrown even so), and I may have an APS for sale soon for $150 shipped. www.airpowersystems.com.au

Who knows what this guy has planned for his car. I think its pretty well known that the stock DV is made to leak from the factory. I'm spiking 28 holding 26 on a stock turbo, that is certainly out of the range for the factory DV.

To the OP, please dont get either if you really really crave the Pshhhhh get the APS twin vent.
Evo8 plastic DV tends to leak at high boost pressure, but he has an Evo9 with Solid DV. It will hold high pressure just fine.

Now,,, who's the dummy?

the IX bov will start to leak at 25 psi if your at that all the time! if he has plans of meth or nitrous, he better be able to hit 30 consistently!

weld a flange on to your Upper Intercooler pipe, amd mount it, but your car is going to run like a$$ with a VTA bov on there. It wont idle incorrectly like people say, but it will go extremely rich inbetween shifts which is horrible on your motor.

In order to install it correctly, you need to do one of two things. 1- To VTA you need a Maf Translater and GM Blow Through Sensor to replace your MAFS. This will then need tuned so that your engine knows what the AFR needs to be since it is no longer getting the air back into the system since its going into the atmosphere. This will cols around $300 just for the Maf Translater and new sensor. And if you are going to go this route you might as well just get a Tial BOV since they are the best you can buy.

Option 2- You need to get the Recirculation Kit they make for the HKS, not sure of the price of it individually, but I know with the BOV, the Kit will run you right around $300. And the problem with this is that as soon as you recirculate it, you are no longer going to hear the BOV.

Any VTA is going to need a bung welded onto the pipe to hold it since it is no longer needs a pipe to hold it in place. And as long as its VTA you are going to need either a Recir. Kit, of the GM Sensor, the other thing I forgot is that you are going to need a new intake pipe since the stocker has the hole in it where the stock BOV mounts. You will need a solid pipe with no holes in it.

How much boost do you eventually want to run? I ask this because if you want to add meth or up your boost and run at a consistent level, the stock wont hold it.

He can still outgrow it on a stock turbo setup.

True that, I blew the IX BOV in about 2 weeks and then went with the Forge. I am running 24psi right now and after about 2 weeks of that consistently it was leaking like a mad man! The Forge Unit is great! Very well built and when Buschur recommends them, I will trust that! The only other BOV I would consider that is safe for the stock ECU is the new Tial Recirculationg when it comes out very soon. We all know that will be a great piece, however the tag on that thing will be likely around $300!

Get the works DV. It's a IX BOV modified with heavier spring. It has the metal 9 functionality, but will hold 30psi. I'm getting it for my green that will run around 28psi. Works runs it on their cars and they run 30psi.
