stumped...

hmmm so i was out loggin my car jus a few mins ago... and when i was turnin on my street goin about 20... i put it into first and keep braking so when i let the clutch out i began to hear a weird noise.... sounded like somethin from a circus... like one of those toys that you blow into... im not gonna say a whirling noise but i dunno.... i am fearing the worst... THE DEATH WHINE... however it only happens in first gear... any thoughts?

Seach for the deathwhine, it sounds like a WWII german dive bomber when its going out.

I reccommend not downshifting to 1st to help slow down.

Brake pads are alot cheaper to replace than a tranny.

See Blazex50 and Brad@MellonTuning's posts. You're likely just hurting the clutch as you let it out slow from downshifting into 1st since from the sound of it you aren't properly rev matching. I would do just like Brad said and avoid shifting into first until you need to.

If it is only in first it is DEFINITELY not the death whine. Death whine is N-5th/6th as long as your moving.... I hated that bloody noise!

Shep is the MAN! He redid my T-case when I blew out my diff! Had it done in a day! Amazing man! But I suggest if you are going to race at all with any launches, that you upgrade to at least the Ralliart LSD when you sent it to him! Its worth the extra money over the 03 Open diff, makes a huge handling difference, and it is much stronger for launching, YOU WILL BLOW THE 03 DIFF! I had the attitude that I could get lucky, made a pass and got to tow it home! And you DO NOT want to experience the ungodly sound that thing made when it blew! Rev Limiter with Grinding gears and compressor surge all put together is horribly loud! But good luck!

Don't down shift into 1st to slow your car down period! You've got brembo's so use em. Lol.
