First Upgrades

Tell me what you think:

Greddy Ti-C Exhaust

Works Drop-In Air Filter

Defi Boost Gauge

+ A tune from AMS

Any recommendations or comments would be great. Thanks!

It sounds good. Just ensure you get the tune to bring everything together.

That mod list looks good.

+1 on getting a tune.

I don't think you will go wrong with AMS.

For $539... i think you would be much better off buying a used 3" Stainless Steel AMS Turbo Back with HFC...( i picked up mine for $400 ) they dont rust or anything and are a full 3" across the whole exhaust.

Then instead of a base FLASH from AMS ... you can get a custom tune from a Shop called P&L motorsports in Franklin Park IL (The Dyno Tune there is cheaper than even a base flash @ AMS)

Also add a AMS $50 Manual Boost controller before the tune and hold on to your pants ... your VIII is gonna fly

Thanks everyone for the help.

@BlueJ20, I heard the Greddy Ti is one of the best exhausts for the evo. Sounds great and not too loud (plus you can use the silencer). So do you think I would get better performance with the AMS TBE? What are the main differences?

Should I just install the parts before going down there or have them put everything on?

I've been pretty set on having AMS tune and do everything to the car. But what about P&L Motorsports? Can anyone else vouch for them?

What are the prices for AMS to tune/flash and do what they need to?
Same thing for P&L? What all do they do, how long does it usually take (I know this can vary), etc.

Thanks again!

I have the same exhaust and I love it. It's loud without the silencer, but it sounds clean. Since the ti-c is only a catback, the ams tbe will give you more power because it comes with a 3" downpipe and test pipe/high flow cat. You can buy a 3" downpipe and test pipe/high flow cat for the ti-c but obviously its gonna cost more (around 700+ for everything). I agree with getting a mbc (manual boost controller) before the tune.

Well now I'm just torn on the exhaust.

I guess I'll see if AMS can give me a deal on their TBE since they will be tuning it and seeing a lot of business from me.

Should I get a better intake or is the drop-in all for now? If I were to go up I've been looking at this:

HKS Racing Suction Kit

Thanks guys, anymore input is helpful and appreciated!

+1 for the drop-in. You really don't benefit from anything like the RS (or any cone-style filter+pipe) until you have a complete blow-through set-up.

Just get the Works drop in... i have one and its well worth the money.

I had my car tuned with the AMS Cone filter... but i reverted it back to my Works filter..

As far as a quiet exhaust goes ... AMS also has a silencer that will make almost as quiet as the OEM exhuast...

And if you wanna save some money ... take it to P&L motorsports.

Install and Tune are much cheaper and the owner JORGE is a very cool guy to deal with.
