Thinking of getting an evo.

This is my first time on this forum, so I don't know if this is the right thread.
I apologize if it isn't.

I've been looking at speed3's for awhile now, but I also do like the evo.
My price is 26k, but I can get a speed3 for 24k OTD.

What do you guys think of the speed3?
Could I get a decent 06 evo with low miles for that money?

'07 Mazdaspeed 3 = 5.4 in 0-60 & 14.0 in 1/4
'06 IX MR = 4.5 in 0-60 & 13.3 in 1/4
I've seen a few IXs in the mid $20,000s. Get the IX. A lot of mods available, better rep, & looks better. Check the for sale section of this site, as well as craigslist, cars.com, autotrader, & carmax. Don't forget to get a carfax report.

They are both good cars, but totally different. The Speed3 is a good car that is a little sporty. Much better utility because of the hatch and a much better daily driver with better features. The Evo IX will outperform it in every aspect, but the Evo is a bare-bones racecar that happens to be street legal. All depends on what you want.

I just sold my Evo IX because I needed a car with more utility. The Speed3 was on my list.

You should test drive both cars and see which feels better to you. It will also be difficult to find a used Evo IX that hasn't been modded or abused. So, take that into consideration as well. The Speed3 will be brand new, the Evo may have been abused like a cheap hooker.

I also sent a note to the moderators to move this thread to the Evo I-IX section before all the Evo X fanboys jump all over you for posting in this section.

'07s are 6 speed. Why a mazdaspeed 3 & not the 6? The 6 has AWD, where as the 3 is FWD.

Both 05 and 06 come in 6-speed versions...these are considered the MR Edition.

If that's your budget, why not the MS6? Waaay closer in comparison (AWD) and faster than the MS3.

The ms6 has a horrible AWD system. And it's a heavy car.
I've been on the mazda3forums, and the mazda6club for a while, and there are a lot of posts about the speed6 having problems. And it wouldn't fit me.

Even though the speed3 is FWD, it handles pretty damn well. I don't mind the torque steer either.

And sorry I didn't know what the MR edition was, figured I could just ask hah.
