Owning an Evo in college will teach you to be friends with everyone. Don't give anyone a reason to want to vandalize your car, whether they know you personally or not. Unfortunately there will always be haters out there who get a kick out of messing with cars, but there are precautions that you can take against that. It's up to you to figure out what those are in your area.

I am not too worried about it but I was just curious since most of the videos I watch on Youtube are based on the JDM Evo.
It's not fair to mention the Evo X's handling (which is better) based on numbers alone because it's a whole new chassis. Press releases stated that even the stock '08 Lancer (without the added reinforcements like spot welds that is a part of the Evo treatment) was a tad stiffer than the outgoing CT9A platform (basically the VII, VIII and IX). In short, Evos with the S-AYC will handle a tad sharper, but it's nothing vastly superior that would make you be unhappy with the standard mechanical rear LSD. But I believe that some professional Japanese drivers tend to opt for the mechanical rear LSD since it's more predictable... anyone who knows more, feel free to make corrections if I said anything inaccurate. To tell you the truth, the average driver probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, much less exploit it.

I think you misunderstood. The person who called the Evo a "toy" wasn't referring to how it felt, but to how you treat it... it's a fun car more for recreation, whereas the other cars you were considering are better suited for the daily grind rather than for excitement. And regarding your seemingly negative experience with Huntington Beach, depending on when you visited them, they may have been under different ownership since the guy who owns that network didn't acquire that dealership until the past year or so.

Ah okay thanks for clearing a bunch of random info for me =)
I am cool with everyone on my campus I really hope this falls through...I never want to drive another car with less than 150 ft/lbs torque.. Its fun to rev but man kills me when I cant get up some hills in a higher gear... Its like 4th gear but cant go up faster than 20 mph
I am misunderstanding a lot of stuff since its getting late and I had a rough day haha
I hope to join this wonderful community soon...if not someday.
The Evo has always been every boy racers dream car, including me, maybe if I play my cards right I will finally be able to own one!
Also this community looks fun! Lots of drama too!! Yay!!

Is there a section of the forum where I can post videos/Pics? I think I am going blind....

Thanks everyone! Especially you Deez! I am pooped for today...but I will be back tomorrow

All I have to say is if you're getting a car to be a "baller", do not get an evo or a sti...

"ballers" are not car enthusiasts and therefore should not drive a car that is meant to be driven.

Well, just so you know, most college students can't afford RX-8s while later on having the financial capability of being able to choose between an Evo, STI, G37, IS350 and BMW. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's pretty tough to make happen.

So worry about chicks and not what car you're in. I've had tons of buddies throughout college who drove POS cars and had some of the best-looking girls you'd imagine. I even did alright myself, I managed to get a little sugar from Aubrey O'Day (from MTV's Making the Band 3 and Diddy's group Danity Kane, as she went to college with me at UCI). And I didn't need a BMW or something to get her attention either.

Have you ever thought about an Audi S4. You can find a B5(2000-2002) for a good price. If you are patient you can find them with under 50000 miles and can be had from anywhere from $15000-$23000. They are the the best of both worlds luxury and sport. The newer one with the V8 is a little more expensive but I figured since you were looking at an Evo the V6TT would be more for you IMO

^ I don't think he'd want to deal with some of the typical Audi problems. I had a friend in college who had two A4s (both brand new when he got them), and they both had a lot of problems. My roommate my senior year also had one, that thing was falling apart.
