IX daily and clutch question

Hey everyone.. ive done a quick search and didnt really find anything but here goes.. is the clutch able to be repositioned? Because i test drove an Evo at a dealership today and the clutch was a little too close for me so i was wondering if its possible to adjust how much or how far you have to push it in. Also would you recommend the car as a daily? Ive read that they have a pretty rough ride but i havent really noticed anything as i drove it today. And with the dealer i wasnt able to get on the highway to see about the noise when your going at a highspeed. I dont think the noise will bother me much but its the gas lol. Since its around like 18 mpg premium and its like $3+ im just trying to get some estimates on how much it would cost to fill a tank up.

If you worried about paying for gas then this car isn't for you my friend. As far as the clutch pedal adjustment it can be moved but you should conform to the car not the other way around anyways.

I wouldnt mess with the clutch, and that 18 mpg gas estimate, is just that, an estimate. It is really extremely hard to keep this car in the economical range. Trust me, nobody has that sort of self control. Besides if you drive and try to stay off the boost on purpose the car is ridiculiously slow, and people behind you will cut you off all day long.

Road noise is pretty loud, windy souding. If there is sand in the air, you will hear every last grain hit the car!! (that drives me nuts, I feel like my paint is falling off), The ride is stiff, and generally not too comfy. I would not recommend it as a DD, unless you are willing to deal with this. (I mean these problems are more so in the evo than ANY other car I have been in. The little things start to add up over time. But I love the car, and will keep it until I die.

yeah i know its an estimate im just trying to get a feel for how much more gas will be. Im not worried about the gas to be honest but if its a lot for a tank with low mpg then i dont really see it being good for a daily(uncle had a Hummer =/). As for the road noise..how fast do you have to go.. i dont really mind some noise i usually drive with no radio n listen to my engine anyway but if the noise is like your on the highway with the windows down And i completely get what you mean with the sand. I get the same thing with my current car and it doesnt bother me at all. If it starts to i can always turn the radio up

I DD mine and I have to pay around $40-$45 to fill the tank and gas is about $3.65 around here. Really its not that bad though. Its cheaper to fill than my 350Z was and that had a bigger tank but I don't seem to fill the Evo anymore often than I did my Z. I don't find the road noise to be that bad at all, there is more mechanical noise in an Evo than anything else. Its actually pretty pleasant on the freeway until you hit around 90 and then its tacking 4,000 RPM but its still not that loud. The ride is a bit harsh around town but it smooths out on the freeway. You have to compromise a little bit in an Evo, but overall the fun you have with it outweighs its little quirks here and there.

You can adjust the height of the clutch very easily, all you need is a 12mm wrench and possibly some needle nose pliers if the rod isnt turning easy.

www.evomoto.com Look in the tech section....

A tune will also help your gas mileage and will make the car drive much smoother.

Cheers!

how much would a tune cost? And how would it improve my mpg i thought that it just gives more hp. (doesnt it void warranty)Also about the noise i doubt ill ever really hit 90 in the city unless im just being stupid with it :P so it wont bother me at all since i rarely have to use the free way. Right now gas is like $25 a tank so around 40 will be a big change hehe. But yeah all i gotta do is find someone around Saint Louis that has one that i can ride with to check the ride. Ive test driven one but it has been sold and i really didnt notice a rough ride but its everything i read about an evo says "Bad DD, horrible gas, ride quality" and when i buy the car i will have it shipped so i wont really have a chance to look at it im trying to get as much info as i can before i buy.

Well a dyno tune around my area runs about $400 and it would help your fuel mileage because Mitusbishi builds the car with a very rich tune. So when a tuner gets their hands on it they can fully optimize it for ideal operation and whatever mods you have as well. So you will usually get more power and better economy if the tuner knows what their doing. It does void your warranty but a lot of people just don't worry about that. If you do mainly city driving you will get around 18-19 mpg, which is what I get. The stock Yokohama tires do create a good amount of noise as does the gearbox but in all reality the car isn't that loud. You can hold a conversation perfectly fine in it. The stock stereo while it looks like a POS, actually sounds pretty good and will cover up most any road noise there is. Go drive a few more and make up your mind at that time. Good luck.

yeah im kinda hoping to be able to pull of at least 19 mpg but since the car i have now says 24 and it acutally gets like 20-22 i was expecting the evo to be in the 15-17 range. i plan on replacing the tires so that wont be a problem. What do you mean about gearbox noise?

If you drive the car somewhat economically and are not on the turbo all the time then you should be able to get 18-19 around town. I get that and I boost it at least a couple of times whenever I drive it. Its just too hard not to. Evos are widely known to have decel noise, which comes from the transmission gears. It is noticeable inside the car but it isn't anything to worry about. If you have the radio on even on low voume you won't hear it.

My favorite colors are white and red. I'm picking up a red Evo8 in two weeks. You can't really go wrong with any on of the colors. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...Favorite+Color look at post #10.
