syn oil

well i switched to castrol syntec oil today at 43k miles...was going to go with mobil 1..so is there any truth to synthetic oil ...gives more hp or better mileage or did i just waste 30.00 on oil??..i change about 5k miles...

no you didnt waste your money. Its a cheap insurance

royal purple says that it give more hp but I dont know if thats true. There oil is thinner, so thats less resistance on the crank but I dont know if thats enough to make a noticeable power increase.

Yeah, I don't know about increased HP but I do know it's much much better then non. An extra $30 every 5k miles is nothing compared to knowing your taking care of your engine.

You don't run synthetic oil to get more power or to get better gas mileage, you run it to better protect your engine so it lasts longer.

The reason for running synthetic is to help prevent oil coking in the oil feed line to the turbo and eventually cutting the oil supply to the turbo. Synthetic is more heat resistant than conventional oil.

The synthetic oils can take a lot more heat than conventional oils. Since turbocharged engines produce ALOT of heat I think it's cheap insurance.

any synthetic is great for our cars, for heat and breakdown. just do it man. even if its just for your mind,lol.
