Evo or Mustang
I must agree with many of these posts...in many of the major factors involved in choosing your car, the EVO is better. Although, after this winter, you can't really say we don't get much snow. 'Nother thing, why do you have to get your Mitsu shipped? There are plenty of new evos at the STL area dealers. Are you wanting something unique?

heres how the newer mustangs break down in my eyes:
-99-04 gt 2v (16 valves) responds horrible to bolt ons
-99-04 bullit(forget exactly which year is was made) (16 valve) i believe it just has different suspension varients and 5 hp or so....still responds horribly to bolt ons
-99-04 mach 1s 4v (32 valves) ram air and respond very well to bolt ons
-99-02 cobras 4v (32 valves) respond well to bolt ons, 6 speed, and irs
-03-04 cobras 4v(32 valves) supercharged, underrated 390hp/390tq, 6 speed, irs, forged internals, responds very well to bolt ons, and special terminator body pieces that look amazing imo.
-05+ gts 3v (24 valves) respond okay to bolt ons and not much faster than the previous gts
there may be some mistakes and things i left out but my point is that go with a 32 valve engine (all the others tend to be money pits) if you get a mustang other wise stick with the evo.
make sure when its wet out to have sticky tires in the back and or some weight in the trunk cuz these mustangs slide all over the place. ive slid across 3 lanes once slowly merging onto a slick highway.

If it is not a cobra evo VIII is a great car. I use to have a 98 cobra loved it got rid of it for the VIII. Now i am saveing up and one day want to get a 03 cobra if u can find a 03-04 cobra i would go with that they put down about 375-380 stock on a dyno
lol a cobra would cost me even more to insure. If it wasnt for the high insurance i would be driving a corvette right now. The main problem is im 17 so my insurance would be like $500+. Evo would be $40 more cuz they still classify it as a 4 door sedan.
I'm going to say something a little different here base on the first post. At first, I was going to chime in by saying Evo all the way, but you started the thread saying that you always wanted a Mustang GT. I always wanted an Evo yet I settled for a Subie. Huge mistake. 2 weeks later I realized that I'm on an Evo forum trying to convince myself out of a trade in. Fast forward 6 months, traded my 05 2.5rs Subie Imprezza for an 05 EVO GSR. So my point is, if you always wanted a Mustang GT then get the Mustang GT. You don't want to get an Evo while the entire time you're checking out Mustangs. It would also help if you test drove and Evo.
Good luck on your decision. I have both cars and I prefer my Evo hands down.

yeah my situation is pretty much exactly like yours. Always wanted a mustang but due to insurance got a 07 2.5rs. 6 months later lookin for a trade in. I planned on origionally turboing the RS but it would of been better to just buy a WRX so...

I agree, test drive. But if you aren't into corners, you will be once you get the evo. Handling machine. I've read and heard the mustangs, at least the later newer gen cars have some amount of frame flex once you put horsepower to the drivetrain. Plus it's heavier than the evo, that's not going to help a mustang out in corners. I'm sure they handle great compared to other vehicles of similar weight though.
