you cant compare 6 cylinder to 4 cylinder, but in the world of 4 cylinders the 4g63 is definitely in the top five.

off the top of my head: Nissan's SR20, Subaru's EJ25, Dodge's A853, Honda's F22C1

Well comparing the 4G63 to these motors it is the BEST one

Completely agree... comparing the 2JZ and 4G63 is comparing apples to oranges. They are in two completely different classes... but i will say that the 4G63 is the 2JZ of the 4 cylinder world...

I'm glad someone mentioned the SR20DET! Fantastic motor.

That being said, supra's have been in my opinion way overpriced and at times over rated a bit. I've seen 14-15 year old examples with over 100K miles on them going for $30K+. That's ridiculous to me when KBB is valuing them at half that. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Around $1000 in mods and tuning got me a 12.3 @113 in the Evo early last year. I watched a friend with considerable drag experience dump $15K into his slick equipped MKIV and pull an 11.8@ at around 121 MPH. The trap speed tells the real story, but for the price, it wasn't impressive. That's just my opinion so take it for what it's worth. I think these 2 engines though, in the import community are the best we have in the US.
If we're talking about drag racing here, both platforms are more than capable. The $15K example is not a very good one IMO. Was that all spend on go fast mods or body kits and show stuff? 121MPH can be done on the stock twins, so I don't think he spent his money wisely. $15K can get you a big single plus fuel and 135mph+ traps with a Supra.

I think they are about even to start out with, both can run well with simple BPU mods, though you will need drag radials to run a good time in the Supra. I think for the 700-900rwhp range, the Supra wins since you can do that on the stock motor and tranny. 1000rwhp+ and it's all about how much money you want to spend cause it is not cheap to do it in either platform.

But yes, the 4g63 has its place in the 4cyl hall of fame. Never will you see another 4cyl make over 1000hp and run 7's in a stock chassis. (John Shep)

Nor will you ever see a 4cyl be put in cars since 1989 up to 2007. Almost a good 20 years. Definitely made a mark in engineering history.

I have to say, that the mk4 supra is one amazing car. If I could have one brand new from the factory with 1 mile on it right now. I would have it definately. Unfortunately time takes it's toll. Back in 2000 I picked up a last gen for more than I am willing to admit I paid. It was a complete blast to drive, and stock for stock, nothing on the road (that is affordable) can compare to this cars experience. It is big, roomy inside, luxurious, comfortable and filled with options. The cockpit style dash is still one of the best around hands down. It would make an excelent daily driver, but that would not be a car I would leave parked anywhere unattended.
