Thinking about getting a EVO to drive daily....Input welcome!

Well I drive a 2007 GMC Sierra Z71 that is lifted and am thinking of getting something that gets better fuel mileage. I've had a 408 rwhp 01 Mustang and 569 rwhp 88 mustang so I'm used to having pretty quick vehicles. I'm in college and the truck gets 11-12 mpg so it drains my funds with gas. What is yall's opinion on getting an evo and mileage. What mods can net me something pretty quick but sensible on gas? Thanks!

my evo runs a 12.6 310whp and gets 25mpg

if you just want "great" mileage get a civic, del sol, or prius

what about around town? I don't want something that is slow and a piece is the only thing. I've never been big into imports but have always like the EVO's. I would probably leave the exhaust stock if I got one because I hate the bumble bee sound. What mods do you have?

exhaust on the cars tend to never sound bad no matter which one you usually get.

mods are hallman mbc, greddy type s vta, walbro fp, hks rs intake, greddy ic piping, dc dp w/cat delete, greddy titanium exhaust , and a tune.

around town you'll 17-20 depending on how much of a lead foot, traffic, etc. etc.

Lowest MPG I saw on mine was around track with 100 octane race gas, still got 7 mpg, only had 276 whp though. The turbo does a great job, and if you can stay off it (well, just don't go on it TOO much), you can easily get an avg of 20 with routine driving. Coming from the truck, you won't be disappointed. And what's this crap about a bumble bee exhaust sound? How many Evo's have you heard man?

Honestly I've never been around a modded evo.....I just don't want the typical Honda ricer sound. I'm a mustang guy at heart but these cars interest me.

Definitely no where near your typical Honda ricer sound. The Evo exhaust note is not AMAZING, but it certainly does sound good, and I haven't heard a very high pitched one yet.

They arnt bad on gas but no one gets one because of thier gas mileage. Oh and if you dont know that an Evo sounds nothing like a pos bumble bee honda exhuast you dont need to get one.

^ I think after a month or so of owning one of these grocery getters, you're gonna want to put on a aftermarket exhaust :P AND, they do not sound like your typical honda... with basic bolt-on's, the EVO is fairly quiet at idle.

If your looking for great MPG, then the evo wouldnt be the right choice. But coming from the truck, its not to bad. And, its nothing like a civic sound, trust me.

I get 23-25MPG, I am totally stock, mixed driving stock about 6-10 90mph blast per week but generally right around acceptable speeds.

The ability to dart in and out of traffic and have gearing steep enough to never need to be in the right gear is pretty decent.

Road joinings and tramlining arent real fun for the DD but not slowing down for corners is fun....
