Buying a used EVO 9 - tire questions

Hey everyone, noob here! I'm hoping to become the proud new owner of an EVO 9 in the near future. Here's my question...I've noticed in my search that alot of used EVOs with mileage as low as under 20k have different tires other than the stock Yokohama Advans. Is this bad? Doesn't most of the EVOs great handling come from the tires? I know that the Advans aren't the longest lasting tire but should I be alarmed when I see that the tires have been changed for something other than stock (and possibly inferior)? And are the Advans THAT expensive that people really skimp out on replacing them? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Tires are an easy fix worry more about the mechanical parts of the car first. My Yokohamas lasted only 15000 miles.

The stock Advans are great summer performers (barring rain). Many of us switch to all-seasons after a while. I got Potenzas RE960's, and gave up a bit of dry pavement responsiveness for much safer rain traction and reasonable driving on snow.
