Are evos high maintenance car?

So I heard from a ex-evo owner saying that the evos are high maintenance....is that true? I heard that replacement clutch are $1000 and you got to have them service every 3,000 mile? I know its noob of me to ask but can EvoM help me out with this question? Thanks

Also have to think about the tires that you'll burn through, that may or may not cost $1k, depending on what you go with.

There are VERY few cars in this performance range that you don't have to do service every 3000 miles, many of them make up for that in the pricetag they carry.

Tires aren't THAT bad and if you take care of it and don't drive stupid you'll have 0 other problems. My clutch was still totally fine at 52k miles when I sold the car, and that's with tons of track racing and autox. No problems with my car at all other than brake pads and rotors wearing out.

The Evo:

- More expensive tires ($300-400)
- Synthetic oil ($15)
- Premium Fuel ($100/month)
- 15k mile transmission services ($50 + drain + install)

Fun and enjoyment in any weather (priceless)

what service must we do every 3k miles besides oil changes? I read through the owners manual and didnt see any mention of every 3k services. I know that there should be one at 15k, 30k, 60k...etc.

Rotate tires every 3-5k and check/top off other fluids.

Tranny, t-case, rear diff. every 15k. Before 15k if you drive it hard (drag, track, etc.).

rotating tires is pretty much standard with any car out there, and topping off fluids/checking them shouldnt really be considered "high maintenance" being that ppl should do it regardless of having an evo or not.

If you are a handy man just do it yourself. As far as the clutch goes it all depends on how you drive it.Also make sure that you rotate your tires.
