New to the EVO world, need some advice please

Hey guys and gals,

I am new to the Evo world, I just bought a 2004 EVO VIII, Tarmac Black and so far love the car. Its a great addition to my turbo family already.

I am not new to the Mits World in turbo cars. I have a 92 Talon AWD fully built and I know that car up and down. Well now I have the Evo and i really dont know where to start.

Here is what I am thinking, correct me of you think im wrong....I am thinking about going ahead and tring to find a TBE exhaust for starts and then some kinda manual boost controller and go from there...

I have looked at several exhausts, and really dont know which to go with and the difference's between them. So this is why i am asking.

Any help would be great....I look forward to chatting with you all in the future.

Thanks,

Sean

There was a used Buschur 3" TBE on here somewhere. I am running a used Buschur on my 05 and am very happy with it. Of course I didn't pay the full price! LOL I would also reccommend a Walbro 255 before turning up the boost much more than stock. The only thing I don't like about the Buschur is that lack of a flex section or pivot on the Downpipe at the turbo outlet. With the Magnaflow muffler and Catco cat it flows pretty well and is not as quite as stock but not as loud as some of the other more obnoxious ones!

A boost controller, TBE, fuel pump, and a tune would be a great start.
The Megan Racing TBE is very good, full 3" mandrel bent piping, and its inexpensive.

Congrats on the evo, but I wanna see some pics of that built DSM. I have wanted one for so long but its hard to find one that hasnt been beaten down.

most TBE will do the job and give you more gains. you can either go name brand or even do a custom job. i went with trust for catback and tomei for front pipe.

hey guys...thanks for the welcomes.....

on the TBE...im torn with the AMS for 850 plus shipping or something else.....

as for the downpipe with no flex. all that i have seen except for one all dont have a flex section. on my talon it does and i would figure that all cars would need one. but oh well what the hell do i know.

for the fuel pump, is it needed early in this upgrade process or can it wait.

at what levels does the car ever go into fuel cut..is there such thing for the EVO?

wow anyways any other suggestions would be great.....here are some pics of the driveway right now at my house.

kinda hard at times to figure out what car to drive....haha...just kidding...
