Why must things escalate like this?
Why must things escalate like this?
I just logged off from ephatch.com for my final time. My last car, an 02 civic si, was totaled, which is how I was finally able to get my Evo. I sold the steering wheel/hub/quick release that was on the civic to a member there because I have no use for it anymore. I kinda complained about how you have to have 200 posts before you can put a for sale thread up for yourself. I mentioned that this site is a 50 post "open topic" minimum to post a for sale thread. I guess comparing one forum to another can start a war, even though they have far less members than evom.net, right about 60k less members!
Anywho, one smart remark led to another, and I finally said my peace, which was tactful, but I got my point across. Technically I was considered a newbie there because of the small amount of posts that I had, even though I had been on the site for 2 years. Yeah, I'm a newbie here too, but I've had my eye on the Evo since 2002 when they announced that it was finally coming to the states. I pride myself on the amount of knowledge that I have about the Evo, and I'll be the first to admit that I still have a lot to learn.
I'm trying my best not to be so biased towards other vehicles because we all like different things. A for sale thread ended up turning into a "high school" argument controlled by a keyboard: how pathetic is that? The sad thing is that we bash fellow members over simple things like questions, no matter how many times they may have been asked. I finally got my dream car, and I'm here to learn about it.
I know that the same things go on here too just like any other forum, but the Evo is such a higher caliber car than any Honda, anyday of the week (I've owned 4 Honda's myself), that I expect a higher caliber of maturity from the members here. I'm gonna try to keep my smart remarks to a minimum, because no one can quit cold turkey. I hope to know the Evo bumper to bumper, and maybe meet a few friends here too. My name is Ben, and my Evo is my anti-drug.
Remember: keyboard renegades pose no threat to anyone, not even a mouse (no pun intended)

Either way, nice to meet you Ben. I hope you enjoy your Evo as much as I enjoy mine. If you want to meet some super knowledgeable and helpful owners, check out the ECUFlash forum. We're nice in there. God forbid you fall in to Off-Topic ... they skin noobs I hear. Evo General can be brutal as well ...
Welcome to Evom. The first thing you will learn here we dont put up with any bs, so get it out of your system. Like you said, there is a lot more maturity from a civic to a evo, so its time to mature. You sound like you got a good head on your shoulders and if your nice and helpful, im sure you will learn a lot. Also, search is your best friend. It has helped me so many times. But, if you cant find what your looking for, go ahead and make a thread. Check out the regional section to meet up with some local guys. Welcome to evom.
Edit-- Of course there will be the stupid immature jerks, but for the most part, seems like we are all down to earth.
Pics of the ebo?

Thanks guys. Well, ephatch banned me, boo hoo; but the funny thing is that I told them to delete my account on my last post, so who still has the upper hand?... (I thank you). I told them to do so because I have no use for the site anymore, or the bottom 10% of people that inhabit that site. They even tried to change my words around for their personal benefit, but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night. I will not argue with someone via the computer, I'd rather talk it out face to face: whatever happens after that is just up to chance.
I hear ya, I just need my friends around when stuff like that happens to take my mind off it, regardless of how childish the situation may be. Anywho, just had to vent. Thanks for listening.
