Hey Guys...
First of all, excellent forum, look forward to being a member. I'm in Colorado right now and am working on some things to get me an Evo. Have to sell my prelude and make a couple of other move's first.
Well, here we go...I really have been wanting to get an Evo for a little bit now, I've doing my reading on the different models, mods, etc. But I was hoping I could get some help to my specific situation, and any advice I really appreciate guys. I've taken it down to these three models, Evo VIII MR, Evo IX MR, or just the base Evo IX. I like the thought of having an MR because it's pretty much done out of the box, but the 6 speed does scare me, I've heard stories of them being weaker than the 5 speed, but at the same token when you buy a base model you're spending a year trying to get the extra's that the MR has.
I have a newborn, so fixing the car over-and-over isn't really an option, I'm looking for a fun car but at the same time isn't going to be in the shop every other week. As far as mods, minimal at best, exhaust/intake/cams/tune maybe....Any help would be appreciated on which one you guys think would be suitable, thanks for your time.

The 6spds are only a flaw when you plan on road racing since they tend to overheat under those conditions. Also i wouldnt go past a stock turbo power range 400trq... Thats when it'll start falling apart on you....
At the same time its all in how you drive it, if you beat the **** out of it non stop itll definetly die much quicker. I tuned a guy making aroudn 500whp on a 3065 and hes been running the car hard for a over 20k with no problems.
