steering wheel shake

Hi, my evo IX has some steering wheel shake when on the brakes, not all the time, or under the same pressure, car has 3500mi on it, some track time. I thought it was the brakes, but the pedal is fine, usually rotors would show up throught the pedal, if anyone has some advice its apprieciated.

I drove a car once that shook while under breaking and it was warped rotors after about 3500mi and NO track time. It only shook if going 60mph or above and brake pedal never felt any differently. So I would still check rotors first...especially since your car has had track time already!

although this probably isn't the case, make sure you don't have any caked on mud inside your wheels. I'm only saying it because it has happened to me before, as well as warped rotors.

re-bed your brakes.

Your rotors most probably have some residual pad deposits causing the vibration.

Does the vibration happen at light braking at certain speeds or heavy braking?

Put new pads on today(ebc yellowstuff, hopefully they work good. Two reasons for them, cheap and my friend with an srt4 has the hawk hp+ and he gets brake fad on the track) and had the rotors off and used the garnet paper to sand them, they still shake, but not as bad. I am going to take them off and have them turned, and I also have a spare set that I am going to try. This happened with two differnt sets of tires/rim. So probably the rotors, thanks.

Had a spare set of rotors turned and put them on, no more shake. It was the rotors, which are being turned as well. Thanks.

Bet you there weren't warped. It was because of uneven pad deposits. Did you check them for runout?

i have had this problem now.. twice...

first time at 3-4 K miles... the dealer gave me new fronts.

Problem comes up again at 16K miles... dealer told me they cant do chit...

so i read up on re bedding.... and brake the chit out of the car... i mean 90 to near 20 mph slow downs in sucessions and guess what ... vibration is Gone

Re- bed your pads ... its just brake residue from the pads stuck on the rotors
