Looking at getting an IX MR - coming from a 350z

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get an Evo IX MR in the Northwest area. Just wanted to see if anyone got tips on what to look out for. I'm coming from a Nismo 350z and have been realy interested in getting into the AWD + turbo (aka the dark side ) here's pics of my Z which will be parted out and sold...sadly

My girl is getting her dream car, a G35 coupe, and since we are getting married it is just too impractical to have 2 RWD sports car with no cargo space in the household lol. She actually really likes the evo so we're both excited for this.

I did look through the Newbie section and surprisingly there was nothing I should be looking out for other than normal wear and tear. I couldn't find any "recalls" or "problems" etc...is the EVO just that perfectly built? lol that would be awesome if it is the case. If anyone can add tips it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Why do you want an MR?? Is it cuz you think its faster than a GSR or an RS??

Also the evo is not perfectly built, the clutch and some drivetrain parts can be weak if you beat on the car regularly....

Other than that nice 350Z....

Thanks bro. I'm actually picking the MR for a few reasons. One is that I like the 6-speed tranny more. I'm also planning on not modding the car until I finish my grad school which is 2 years from now. I want a car that's practical, fun, and sporty while not needing to be modded to do those 3 things. That's why I'm moving from the Z and wanting an MR. If the MR isn't a good choice, could you state why? I'm keeping an open mind on this so I can make a good buying decision for sure.

I think if your gonna keep it stock than the MR is right for you, The MR has a weaker tranny then the 5 speed tranny but if your not gonna race it then you will be fine with your choice... I suggest you try both the 5 speed and 6 speed out...
The RPMs dont drop much in the 6 speed at highway speeds compared to the 5 speed....

What are intentions with the EVO? We need more information if you want help. If your planning to buy the EVO to be your family car, then I suggest you look else where. If your look for a great car to mod and have fun with and can transport you day to day and you don't mind a harsh ride and decent to sub par interior, then the EVO is for you.

Take a look at the SE as well. A couple of things you don't get are the 6 speed, which is not as strong as the 5 anyways, and the bilstiens, which can be picked up on the forum.

You do get the diamond black BBS wheels and red stiched interior, which is nice but purely personal preference.

Nice Z man, thats what I came from as well. I had mine (06 Enthusiest 6-speed) for a year but just decided it was too impractical since I already have other two doors. A lot of people pan the MR's tranny even though it is pretty strong but the 5-speed is a bit stronger. I would look for a IX MR, IX SE or IX MR SE. Good luck and welcome here.
