420A to EVO (4G63) swap
Ok i'm new to the board, i live in hawaii. i have a friend in Japan who can get me an "A" clip from an EVO over there. my question is what all do i need to do the swap, and what EVO series should i buy it from?????? please help, everyone in hawaii is like a Honda guru, and not tooo many people know that much about DSM's. tks
The 420A engine is a Chrysler engine (Neon) and it does not belong to any Mitsubishi engine family. Therefore, you will run into various mounting issues. Although the engine orientation is very close to the later-generation 4G63, their mounts are not the same. You might want to check the Mirage Performance Forum, I think they might have a couple discussions about this topic.
My suggestion is to get a turbo kit for your 420A. There are a few companies offering such kits. One of them is Hahn Racecraft.

Turbo your 420a. I had mine cranking 360whp before I sold it to buy the Evo. The absolute best place for info on modding your 420a is www.2gnt.com Go to the forums and do some searching and reading. There are some very knowledgeable guys there, just don't ask about the 4g63 swap. Only a couple have been done - and neither of them ever ran right.
not worth it......just sell the 420a.....and put a down payment on an STi...i mean evo.....
i used to have a 97 NT eclipse....the 420a takes a lot to do anything at all....and a swap is a lot of money cuz everything is different....stupid mopar neon powered eclipse
just my .02

A great 420A tuning page: www.hahnracecraft.com They seem to do awesome work. Love their 'busa. Shame they couldn't be convinced to do a Lancer turbo kit.
