Just bought an evo
First to introduce myself Im 18 years old from El Paso, Texas. I have always liked racing and recently got deep into rally races. I have always wanted an evo. The only car I want more is a carrera gt ha.
Ive driven a lot of sporty cars a 350z, mustang gt, tiburon, eclipse, wrx, rsx etc but from what Ive read about evos they seem to be the best out of all. So from all you evo owners what should I expect from that first drive in the car. I cant wait to test out the handling and the all wheel drive system out in my desert roads here. What should I expect from gas mileage ranging from driven hard to driving slow. I wont be able to pick up the car til monday but i am extremely excited for it. So talk about the awesome evo in here
Forgot to mention its an 03 evo 8 apex silver 60,000 miles for 18,000

I wanted it stock for one it seems more reliable and two i like to build things from scratch myself

I had an Apex Silver 03 as well and miss that car more than any other car I've had. On a stock tune, driving hard mileage = low teens/gallon, driving slow = high teens to low-mid twenties/gallon.
Unless you know the previous owner and have maintenance records, first thing I'd do when you get the car is change all the fluids. A properly maintained Evo shouldn't be a problem with that mileage, even if it's driven like it is supposed to be :-) But, better safe than sorry.

Sweet.
I just upgraded from my silver OZ a few weeks ago. I also got a 03 evo VIII apex silver but mine was 41,500 miles and also got mine for $18,000. Still stock at the moment, but hey it is an evo so I am just happy to own it.
Unfortunately though my clutch already bit the dust (in less than a week) and had to be replaced. The dealership (after much fighting to get them to do the work) that did the fixing then broke an O ring in the tranny and I am waiting to get my car back either today or tomorrow. The previous owner rode the car hard at times I am sure. I worked with a guy who rode in the car and know it was driven hard at times.
I am not going to granny drive the car by any means but I plan to care for it as well as I do my son. I first need to repaint the brakes and refinish the carbon fiber in the middle of the wing. But hey that is how I will do some bonding with my new baby.
Congrats on your buy. I am sure you will love the car.

Yea the dealership I purchased it from put all new fluids in it and detailed it so I got that covered.
And yea I plan to take care of this care greatly. Going to have it constantly covered or garaged. Always change fluids on time etc.
I honestly havent been this excited about something in a long time. I cant wait. When monday comes around Im sure I will be shaking when I get handed the keys to the car
The only thing is I dont know what to do with the car first. Take it to the track or take it the desert roads or take it to the mountain roads

if you take care of an Evo - you can't "tell" that its been driven hard "at times"
they're evos - if theres any mileage at all on them - they seem like they've been driven hard all the time. As long as the maintenance has been kept up - you're Evo should be as good as a babied one.
I am not a racer myself not that I do not speed from time to time but not much over the limit and only in good conditions. Besides the only place to really do that around here is the drag strip, and I would be worried I would tear something up there. Nope don’t want the car for race reasons really would be happy if I didn’t get much more than 300 WHP out of it. I just want the car because it is an evo.
Besides my wife would beat me half to death if I got a ticket in this car or wrecked it. She drove it and loved it as much as I did or more if that is possible. Also I am 32 so I would look sort of silly street racing with a car seat in the back.

One more thing where did I say you can tell anything? I said the he told me not that I could tell.

The car may have been modded and put back to stock. It's rare to see an Evo with a CF exhaust shield and no aftermarket exhaust, and CF fenders with no other mods. BTW, as you plan to take the car on desert roads, you may want to look into a suspension upgrade in lieu of the Tien springs. Do a search for Tien. Good luck.
Evo's are cars that just BEG to be driven hard. They are a race ready street car.
The 4G63 is a bulletproof engine when properly maintained. The people who end up in trouble are the ones who skimp on maintenance because they can't afford to do it right.
Change the fluids regularly, keep up on the wear parts and drive the hell out of it!
