hey my name is chris. im 19 and currently drive a 01 eclipse RS-T. yea i turboed it myself and gained much expierence and sadly i feel i need to move on because im bored and need to go to school. im lookin to get an evo and am meeting up with a guy tomorrow. its a 2003 evo 8 with 75,000. yea the mileage is up there but ive been reading and ppl are still running strong over the 110, XXX mark. it has some scuffs and the back bumper and supposeably has a "stage 1" set up from turbo trix and makes 320 AWHP. tried calling turbo trix to see if thats true because i never heard of there stage one not to mention seems kinda low. anyways he wants 16.5 for it and i told him in not giving him that much we can work somehting out KBB says 15.9 . you guys think its a good deal? no one around my area really has an evo so i cant ask anyone here. thanks

 

For an 03, that many miles, some visual flaws, and "stage 1" mods I wouldn't pay 16.5k thats for sure.

Talk him down to at least 15k or I would say no.

Ask for some receipts of fluid changes and all other maintenance that should be done at the 60k mark.

Checking the car out in person makes all the difference as long as you know what to check for.

 

im thinking of offering him 15,000. maybe 15.5 he said he does the tranny fluid every 15k and oil every 3k

im hoping the car is running perfectly he says interrior is immaculate and has some nice volks. insurance is going to suck prob 440 a month. yea i know alot but u only live once and i have the money i work and go to school.

440 a month for insurance is RIDICULOUS.... i would never pay that out of respect for myself... i'm guessing you're very young with a lot of tickets/accidents??

an evo is no eclipse... a few common issues (transmission, transfer case specifically) will cost you $$$. you say money is no issue but with a 75k mile evo with mods you honestly just don't know what you're gonna get.

if you think you're up for it, go for it... but be careful you don't get involved with more than you can handle $$$ wise, especially with that crazy insurance.

sadly i had a wreckless driving ticket and big accident 2 years ago stupid immature me went in the back seat while driving hit a pole . i would guess my points would of went away but no idea. but besides that nothing.

would this be a good deal? the interior is immaculate looks brand new. cf wing is fading brembos peeling scuff marks on right back bumper. it has alot of positive things about it tho. and the only owner of the evo

 

Are you frucking nuts paying over $5K a year for insurance on a $15K car? Plus, it's a high-mileage, first year car that's modded to shreds. Go to C&D site and read about their experience with Vishnu's Stage 1. This car as even more stuff bolted on to it.
