Most people would hate on the HKS exhaust but i really like it. Seeing how i only paid 800 for the turbo outlet, downpipe, testpipe, and the HKS exhaust, i couldn't pass that up.

At the moment I have a Tomei bov and a drop in K&N filter. I think I may have a reflash because the car will rev to 6k and act like it's anti-lagging. And a friend of mine had a evo 9 rs and he told me my car feels really strong for stock. I know people talk about if you do a hard intake pipe your gonna need to tune it cause the mass air sensor is so sensitive to that so do you think I should change out for just a cone filter or go with the full intake pipe? My plans are to do a TBE, a different intake, boost controller, fuel pump and a wideband. I've had a friend tell me about the ECU flash software but I'm a little skeptical of it. What do you think?

As far as the intake setup go's don't waste your money on the hardpipe intake tube, just get the filtert setup, upgrade the hardpipe when you get a bigger turbo. Now for flashing goes this is were the car makes all the power because it amx's at all the mods on the car and you will be able to raise boost up and hold better to redline. The stock boost on the evo 9 is about 20psi and tapers to 14 psi. With a good aggressive flash on 93 oct boost would be 23or 24psi and hold 21psi taper with a good m.b.c. i don't know any who does tuning in your area but if you don't make a wise choice for a mail in becuase there all different some are good ans some are not if you don't have a good tunner in your area i would recommend you to the best.

I know an extremely good tuner. He owns a 90 Talon awd that holds the stock motor whp record lol. My other friend has a 2.3 6 bolt swapped 2G gsx and another friend with an evo 8. We tune our own cars cause we don't have an awd dyno that's conveniently close. We usually don't have time to make a 2 hour trip just to tune a car so we just use widebands and laptops to tune. I was thinking I would probably wait on the full intake for a bigger turbo.
What size are my stock injectors and how much boost on the stock turbo are they good for?
Also, what do you think about the ECU flash software where I can reflash the ecu myself along with the help of very knowledgeable friends?

The stock injecter's are about 580cc,the stock injecter's can feed nice amount of fuel as long as you get a bigger fuel pump.THE stock turbo on 93oct is good for 24psi to 25 psi before it's start's knocking, with alky it can boost to 28 psi safe with upgraded injecter's 680cc the stock turbo can boost 31 psi before it run's out of cfm's.I suggest go with mellon tuning for the do it your self tune. For the intake you can get just the filter now and tube later on.

Thanks for all the info. I'm sure with 110 it can handle 28 psi correct? I didn't realize the stock turbo was good for that amount of boost. It seems like it would just be blowing hot air at that point, even with an upgraded front mount and piping.
I've heard of Mellon tuning and aren't they here in South Carolina?

Here's my opinion on exhausts...

All the Evos out here run different exhausts. I've heard them all in every configuration (cat/no cat/high flow cat/stock cat/etc.). Out of all the exhausts I've heard, the Greddy Ti (not Ti C) sounds the best followed by the JIC Ti. After those, I'd say my TurboXS TBE sounds the ****. I bought it used a few years ago so maybe the muffler packing is just worn to **** or whatever, but it sounds better than every other non-ti exhaust I've ever heard. The Buschur TBE sounds a little too high-pitched compared to others (it's not as deep as some people say), but performs and fits better than the rest. The Megan sounds damn good for the price. The RS*R coupled with a DC Sports 2 in 1 is LOUD. The AMS exhaust has a great tone to it, but it sucks that you have to use their downpipe and their test pipe (unless you get 2 bolt flanges welded on). The HKS Carbon Ti looks great and sounds good, but performs the worst out of the 3 inch systems (mostly because it's not 100% 3 inch all the way through). The JIC with the ti muffler sounds damn good, almost as good as mine.
