noob here interested in evos
hi im new here and interested in buying an evo but i want to know how some of the members of this forum like their cars as all around daily drivers any comments would be great thanks guys
Easy there, buddy. Three back-to-back-to-back posts in less than four minutes is a little overkill. The edit button exists for a reason.
Anyway, Mr. cobrasvt03, I've had two Evos to date, both being daily drivers. Obviously a high-boosting 2.0-liter four-cylinder is going to be laggy compared to a supercharged 4.6-liter V-8, but as a daily driver just going to work, you'll appreciate it. With gas prices being as high as they are these days, an Evo is a decent car where you can have TONS of fun when necessary but still get reasonable gas mileage for what it is when just driving to work. (Anyone who says otherwise either has a highly modded car, is impatient and has the need to always go full-throttle at every moment, or just doesn't know how to drive.) I've said this time and time again, but in my currently bone-stock IX SE, I've gotten as high as 26.73 mpg without really trying (as the A/C was on for a bit over 200 miles of the 293 miles I drove before I filled up, plus about 20 miles of that tank was in pure bumper-to-bumper traffic). When my daily commute was a 12-mile round trip purely through city streets (lots of stoplights and no highway driving), I would pretty much always get between 20-21 mpg. However, most other people don't see mileage like mine, though these numbers were very similar to what I achieved in my previous Evo as well, so it's not like I got a fuel-sipping Evo from the factory.
Gas aside, it's not a bad daily driver. The ride is obviously stiff, but it doesn't really bother you, especially if there are any corners in your daily drive. Plus as long as you're not too old, it shouldn't bother you much.

A lot of people keep their fast cars in the garage and only drive them when they go out at night or on weekends. Consequently, my daily driven Evo owns the commute. It's definitely more fun to pass than to be passed.
I just bought my evo 9 about a month ago and I absolutely love it! I owned an 02 WS6 auto before this and it doesn't even compare in the fun to drive department. These cars are so solid and fun to drive. I would go for it if I was you. I promise you won't be disappointed.
ya dude get an evo man, i have one and like everybody said its so fun to drive and stuff, i really dont feel the stiffness but then again i am young, i get around 23 mpg going to school with a few pushes here and there cuz sometimes you cant resist doing it, empty road, a ferrari 100 feet away from you and you just pass him and hell try to catch up to you but he wont, hahah, youll be surprised at the cars you can beat with an Evo.
