Newb here need some help

Okay my Question is this im about to buy an evo and the one that im probably going to buy is a 5 speed, I realize that the 6 speed is probably better but how much better and is it worth the $3k difference with a lil bit more miles? Also am i better off buying the one with a 5 speed and buying the trans seperate money isnt the isssue i just dont want to spend unneccesary money.

Yea, 6 speeds are garbage IMO if you actually wanna go fast.

6 speed isn't garbage but it's aimed towards the daily driver, mild bolt on user.

I wouldn't pay 3k more for an MR anyway.

If you ask someone who own's are regular 9 they say 5 speed people with the mr say 6spd but really i like the 6spd better it actually rev's faster becuase it shorter geared and better on the hwy now for upgrades if seen people with 600 whp 6spds with no issu's it all depends on the driver and how hard you shift and what cluch you use.IM not saying the 6spd is as strong or stronger but what im trying is it depends on the you how you treat it.

Given my experience with both gearboxes, that's a little silly, especially since it comes from one who just bought his used '03 Evo less than 2 weeks ago, and has been a member for the forum for three whole weeks. As the design of the 6-speed stands, it doesn't really offer an upgrade. With the IX, 1-4 are almost identical with both gearboxes. Whether an extra gear that drops the revs by ~200RPM at cruising speed is advantageous is up to the driver. FWIW, I made a point not to buy the 6-speed for either of my Evos.

You may know something about cars, but clearly an Evo isn't one of those automobiles. It may be beneficial not to make absolute claims before figuring out what's what. Good luck.
