MR Gas Mileage
I'm sorry, guys, but miles per tank is a meaningless figure. Posting MPG would actually have some common relevance. Every PC has a calculator. Fill the tank, drive until you refuel again, and the divide number of miles traveled by the quantity of fuel purchased.
why is this a meaningless figure? I figure miles per tank is more accurate than mpg. Mpg can be very misleading. You can be averaging 25 mpg cruising on the highway but factor in sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour and that 25 mpg is now probably less than 20. I stopped paying attention to my mpg and just focus on how many miles I get per tank.
no body ever believes this except my friends who witness it, but on a full tank of hwy miles i can pull 400 miles, all city driving 250 with mild turbo usage, i achieve this by leaning out the idle and have my low load cruising afr at 15.7 from 3500rpm's and down... and the hwy is my MR, cruising 80-85.. now my buddies 5 speed i put the same "gas mileage" map on his car and didn't see a difference on the hwy because 80 hes almost at 4krpms.. so with that said, get the MR!

Actually, my mileage figures are skewed due to my tire size ... well, technically anyone on stock tires have a skewed reading. I'm no 245/45/17's and my speedometer is actually more correct while cruising than on 235s (checked via GPS). So, my 200 miles is likely closer to 220 in comparison to someone on a 235 tire.
I also cruise at a leaner mix than stock ... I run at around 15.7:1 at idle and cruise. I also commute over foothills as part of my city calculation so it's tough to stay out of boost and brings down my mileage.

i have been trying to get a good figure on my MPG because I'm about to drive cross country, but I don't think it matters now since I'm going to be towing a small trailer. Ugh. Gonna suck. Thank God the Army is paying for the gas.
thats a good point but we just have to know how far ppl are letting the fuel go down before filling up again. I usually fill up right away when the fuel light comes on so that would leave me about 2 gallons in the tank.
There shouldn't be a difference in terms of when the fuel light comes on, its supposed to come on when you have 2 gallons left. But im curious now to see how low other people are letting the fuel go before refueling.
What makes you think that you're dealing with NASA-grade calibration, as well as a lack of variance in fuel quantity to begin with? I have no idea why you keep pursuing this, given the utterly untenable nature of the argument, but I've said all I can.
