RWD car to an EVO. Anyone here?
I have a list of cars I am considering but practicality is surely pushing me towards and EVO even though I could get an M3, Terminator or C5 Corvette. I am wondering if anyone here went from a fast RWD (undrivable in snow) kind of car to an EVO. I am scared that if I bought one of those other cars I would get so pissed of or annoyed with not being able to drive it, or whatever issue that I'd end up with an EVO anyways. What do you think?
I live in the North East...
If a person buys a RWD car as listed above and deals with a beater it could be frustrating, they may never use the car they like much. As well as 2 insurances or cars to maintain. I am trying to see if anyone came from one of those kind of cars to an EVO because it was more fun to have something you can use all the time. Or if indeed those cars are so great that it's worth not being able to drive them 4 seasons a year.

Any of the rwd's will be fine in anything but snow. If it snows a lot where you are then get the evo unless you can get a good beater for the snow. I still would prefer the evo due to its 4drs, superior handling, braking, and traction. I currently drive a 477whp mustang and cant wait to sell it to get into an evo.

I remember driving a 2002 SS when I owned my modded SRT-4. I couldn't wait to bring that damn thing back to the dealership to get that ALL HOOD view out of my face. It really taught me that I like nimble cars, however I think the seating position had something to do with it... the seating in a Mustang vs. a Camaro is much better I'd think. One benefit I can think of though is that in a Cobra when you don't want to tear *** and you want something fast but comfortable though not a slush box you can have it. You can't turn off the rigid stiffness of an EVO though

Get an EVO, its really the best of both worlds.
I have an EVO which currently I use as my daily driver but I also have a very high HP z06. Trust me, after you drive an EVO for a year you won't want to go to anything that isn't AWD.

Pick which one youd keep then. If you lived in PA
I bought my car for the purpose of having something fast, yet being able to drive in rain, snow, etc. Now that I have it i'm so picky, I don't even drive it in the rain lol. Really it is the most practical fast car you could get.... that or an STI. You just cannot beat the price vs. performance of one of these cars. They have their drawbacks... interior is cheap and paint chips easily and IMO is to soft, but there's going to be something about any car that you don't like. I say go for it. Japanese stuff is better anyway :-P

I'm in Md and we have 4 seasons here, but it hasn't snowed enough to really matter over the last 3-4 years, but you never know. I have to say I love my car, but the paint has really troubled me. I have 2200 miles on it now and there are little spots all over the car that I have had to touch up. I contacted Mitsu and am waiting for an appointment with a district manager next month and I will see how willing they are to fix this issue. I am going to request that it be re clearcoated, but if they are not willing to help me, then I will be selling the car and not deal with them ever again and will either await the new Z coming out in the fall.. or save a bit of money and buy a GT-R next year.
Nj, 4 seasons....
My last car was a 520rwhp cobra and I never wanted to drive it even when it was rainy ... or even when it was cold! i would always take my dads audi. Evo is an awesome daily driver ... if your looking at vettes and terminators, you should be looking at the evo 9

Well since no one acutally gave you an answer I will chime in!
I went from a G35 coupe to the Evo. I was in your exact same shoes debating how I would handle the winter months, but I decided to go with the G anyways. Well after about six months I realized I had made a huge mistake and it pissed me off everytime I drove the car. My car became a huge comprimise... I couldn't go snowboarding unless someone else drove, I couldn't head out of town to go to Vegas if I thought it might snow... and so on.
So if having two cars is an option that might work out, becasue then regardless of what car you have, the nice one can stay in the garage when the weather is nasty (always a bonus in my opion)
As for the transition, I really had a lot of hard ache selling my G because in the summer I loved it... but since I got the evo I have never looked back. All of the fun reasons I liked my g35 I now have with the evo. It is also very functional, I can pile a bunch of people in it and go up to the mountains without issue.
For me there is no question, if you live where it snows and you like outdoor activities, an awd car is wway more fun than rwd simply because you get to use it a lot more and it doesn't hold you back.
