Buying an Evo IX

I am looking to buy a 2006 Evo IX it has 12,000 miles and he is asking 26K for it. As far as i know the car is stock. Are there any tell tale signs that the car has been abused or anything that i should look out for? I have never owned a Evo any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

look for any missing bolts or hardware that shouldnt be missing.Look to see if there are any bent fan blades, this may indicate a turbo swap or other parts being carelessy put in and taken out.Ask how many sets of tires and brakes the car has gone through.

Honestly with only 12k miles it should still have its original STOCK tires, if it wasnt constantly drifted around turns that is! Best bet, go look at it. Drive it, study the car, if it feels funny, then theres probably something wrong with it. Either that, or get an evo enthusiast friend to come along with you for the ride.

If you can get under the car a look around thats another good thing. I had a punctured axle boot on mine which im 90% positive happened because of a clutch swap. Just something you might wanna look for. Like that other guy said tho, with only 12k, if it looks pretty stock and boost's good and feels good, its prolly a good car! GL

I sure hope so im worried about the car being abused and getting it home and the tranny failing or something that i might not be able to see. I was looking forward to getting an X but dont really like it as much as i like the IX

Scars on the nuts, missing heat shields (take a picture of what a stock engine bay looks like with you).

With 12K miles it should look like new...everywhere.

I second this quote. If you you look at the back of the radiator and see any dents, chances are someone was in there swapping parts carelessly.
