Unhappy My Evo Jumps into higher RPM???

Hey everybody...I was seeking help and advice on a weird thing that's happening with my Evo. I got my mods done 2 weeks ago and a couple of days later my vacuum line popped off. I went back to my tuner and he fixed that problem with a "zip tie". Everthing was OK afterwards, but a week later my car now "all of a sudden" jumps from 3,000 RPM to about 4,000 RPM and then it builds up steady. It's not normal I know and the power build-up and acceleration is not linear like a week ago. Three of the main modifications I had done were the turbo back exhaust install, manual boost controller install. and a stock ecu reflash. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

My RPM does shoot up, but it doesn't come down directly after it shoots up. It just takes a very awkward jump up to 4k RPM. I can keep accelerating after it jumps up. It's just not normal especially when I'm accelerating lightly and not abruptly. It jumps up right when I get to the 3K RPM mark, even when I'm not pushing the gas very hard. I get to the 3K mark and it jumps. It's very weird and I don't like the feel when it happens...

SORRY>>>I MEANT I DON'T THINK THERE ARE ANY LEAKS IN THE MBC.I took it to my tuner about a week a ago and he put that "zip tie" on my vacuum line that popped off....And it seemed just fine. I'm not sure if it has any leaks or not though...It's very frustrating. How can I find out on what's going on?

its probably just the early signs of the clutch starting to slip and give way

Unhappy How can you be so sure?

Can you explain why almost everyone answers that the clutch is slipping? Can anyone please explain the reasoning since this is the first time I'm going through this...And if my clutch is slipping for sure, then how much time do I have before replacing? Thank you.

if his clutch was slipping I would think it wouldn't just shoot to 4k rpm...it would keep going wouldn't it?

Put the car in 5th gear while doing about 40 mph. Hammer the gas, this will put the most load on your car. If the rpms are jumping up, your clutch is taking a dive.

Well first and formost buddy! with new mods comes new/more power... which in turn puts more stress on key parts such as the CLUTCH...

Im guessing you got the boost controller meaning you turned the boost up... meaning more power... again meaning clutch slippage..

sorry to say but it is probably your clutch.. take it to a shop and have them asses it.. GL

Thanks for the links "IEXCELR8" and thanks for all the input and all the advice everyone. So I guess it really is my clutch wearing out. If anyone has anything else to add or advise then it would be awesome. My tuner said the "ACT" clutch is very good so I'll look into that brand. If anyone has anything else to tell me, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone for the spectacular help!
