Hey i will be moving to California in the next couple of months, and so i was wondering is anything that i have done illegal there? i just want to make sure evn though i think i know some of the answers to my questions.

Off the top of my head

performance wise; changed muffler tip, k&n airflter.

cosmetic: tinted windows 10%, interior yellow, back license plate* I think you have to have front as well in California, not sure someone check me*, led lights under glow.

PLANING TO GET THAT MIGHT BE ILLEGAL: I want to get headers to make the exhaust sound louder and thats it. but i hear its illegal,or not street legal.

If so anyone know the rules on these or where i can find legal headers?

 

performance parts are fine

10% tint on front windows are illegal

underglow are illegal...just dont use them when driving (i think its a felony. lol)

you dont NEED a front plate...but some have gotten a fix it ticket for it, and not having it is another reason a cop can pull you over

headers are illegal
...they're intended for "off-road use only"

if you just want to make your exhaust louder, i suggest getting a whole catback and switching to a HFC

I still have questions thouh. I mean here in kansas underglow is illegal if its red or blue. but other colors are fine. also you can't see the blubs at any time. is it like taht in california as well?

headers are for off road use only as well in kansas, but people stll put them on. I mean the only way a cop could tell was if they opend your hood right?

I think that its cheaper for a header switch rather than whole catback or a High flow cat?

I love the way my exhaust sounds now and thats just with the tip. I want to make it louder without changing the sound, just the volume. And its cheaper too. anyone get back to me on this? thx

Any perfomance part is illegal including your exhaust. Install the headers if u want im sure you will be fine I really doubt you will be stopped. I dont live in cali but been there a few times seen a lot of cars out there modded up so i wouldnt worry about it too much. that underglow imo just take it off. its probably illegal and it doesnt really look all that great. but if u like it and must have it, just be prepared to be pulled over.

 

you can have the underglow...but just dont use it on the street

i have no idea how much headers are for the lancers but a catback is more legal than headers. we're not allowed to change anything before the cat.

cops can pull you over with their own discretion...if they feel your car is too loud (even if it isnt and they just want to be an ***), or if they feel your car has illegal parts

but yes, many cars over here have "off-road use only" parts on daily driven cars

 

After seeing the video of Cali feds crushing modified cars I would be scared to have a aftermarket sticker on my car let alone anything else.

absolutly right, get a catback to make it louder. not headers. and dont drive with your underglow on. just do it infront on movies or whatever and not on the streets

EDIT: get a catback with your muffler, by that i mean go to an exhaust shop and tell them you want a littler bit bigger piping from the cat back. and get a DP(down pipe) my friend has header and it made his car deeper and louder. alot louder. witch is something you dont want, and he had changing color neon

but as long as you're not stupid, you should be fine

stickers are fine, assuming that if they're on the window that they'll meet the laws for window decals. but stickers are just another reason for cops to look at you though. lol
