Increasing Wheel Width

sorry if this is already posted somewhere. i couldn't find the answer.

i'm looking toward getting a '09 ralliart when they become available and was thinking of getting a set of black OZ ultraleggeras for my summer tires. but, on tire rack, i noticed that the ultraleggeras only come in 18x8, whereas the ralliarts wheels are 18x7. i dont know too much about changing wheel sizes, and was wondering how that would be done, if it can be done. is it as long as i get spacers, it'll be fine? any help would be appreciated. thanks!

If Tire rack's software says that the wheels will fit your car, you won't need spacers.

I came across a thread though, and some guy said he bought some wheels from Tirerack, it said it would fit, but it didn't. does that not normally happen?

It also depends on the design of the spokes. Just because a wheel that is 18xX with an XXmm offset fits, does not mean a different wheel with the same measurements will. Best thing to do is call up a place and talk with someone to make sure they do. Increasing the wheel size should help clearance from brakes, but I doubt that would be a problem anyways (with the brakes that is). Could still have issues with suspension or fenders though. Hope this helps!
