maybe getting an evo?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forums. I currently driving a 99 civic lx for dd and an 07 s2k for nicer days.

I'm planning to trade in my civic for a new dd car. I'm looking into getting an evo. I have a couple of questions, maybe you guys could help me?

Is there any differences between a regular evo vs an evo mr other then wheels, 5/6 speed, and weight difference?

What years and model would you guys recommend and why?

I was planning to get a 05/06 evo mr.

Thanks

he's new, give him a chance, LOL. the differences you mentioned are pretty much the differences, as well as some interior and exterior cosmetics. if you have the money, get the MR, 6spd is nice! if you dont have as much, then you'll get like 99% of the thrills with the regular evo. avoid the evo rs, no power windows...

your wrong.... ps u dont have an evo how are u answering this? RS is for racing.. some dont mind the discomfort due to lightweight

If you plan on modding the car at all you want to go with a 5 speed unless u feel like replacing 3rd alot..

modding 5 speed
to have the car and highway cruising 6 speed...

weight differences arnt very different..
bilstein suspension (MR) not that great IMO

either way go compare them on edmunds.. ull get more usefull info on there.. then come back here for technical and modding questions

I think the no air conditioning and no radio is more of an issues than no power windows...

Thanks. I do plan on modding the car. So why would you be replacing 3rd alot in MR's?

Maybe he meant 4th? Or heck, all of them?
Anyways, I have a lightly modded MR. And for daily driving and spirited sprints on the backroads, it's been great. But if you plan to go really fast in a straight line from a dig every single day, then yes, the 5 speed would be more to your liking. Especially if you want a high whp and more importantly, high torque beast whcih would shred the 6spd gears. Here's the best imho for comfort and 1/4 mile runs, an evolution 9 SE .

06 IX has better turbo + mivec.
Also IX looks better.
Recommend getting 5 speed. Read 5 speed is stronger than 6 speed.
I recommend 06 GSR If you plan to mod.
MR just has 6speed tranny, gauge, VG, and better shock with tousands of dollars above GSR.

RS if you are really into racing.

I'm planning to mod it, but more for tracking and handling then straight line.

Thanks for all the info.
