Questions and Concerns

Hey Guys,
Am new to site, and just had a couple questions. Am looking into getting a car within the next few months since I got a full ride to the University of Connecticut starting next semester, and am cut between a few different options. The Evo IX MR's are some of my favorite cars on the road, and are still running for around 23-25 grand with low miles, but I have also been looking into the 09 Cobalt SS's. General rule of thumb is new car > used car, but I am really leary about the whole FWD econo car feel, even though 30+ mpgs on the highway would be nice. This will be a daily driver, and I just wanted to see what you guys would have to say, though I know this is an evo forum so I can imagine the outcome. Have never driven an all wheel drive car, nor a front wheel drive car, only my 03 v6 mustang, Any and all input is welcome, thanks in advance

Well first of all, who is paying for the car and the upkeep? If mommy and daddy are paying for it then count your blessings for whatever they grace you with. If you are paying for everything yourself then I commend you and obviously an Evo beats a Cobalt SS hands down.

Personally I'm with chaotichoax, I'd never park my car on a college campus. When I had my Mustangs and went to visit friends I would make it a point to park it off campus. Only time I broke that rule my car was short a driver's side window, head unit and a $300 leather jacket when I got back.

If you live in a place where it snows and plan to have it as your daily driver go AWD!

I get 19-20 mpg, Use it as a DD, and with winter tires its good in the snow.

If you can find it, get a SE version if you can't help get an evo

But ill say get something simple till you are finish with school, because maintenance is going to hurt with the proper funds.

I also voted something else

I voted for the Cobalt with a full factory warranty. Being in college and worrying about repair bills doesn't strike me as a great idea. Too, parking an Evo on a college campus isn't necessarily the best move.
