What to get?
Curious, how much are IXs in your area?
I remember one guy saying he got his IX se for 20k with less than 20k miles on it.
I bought mine for $23k with 37k miles on it. I feel like I got ripped off. Although there isn't a IX GSR on Autotrader for less than what I paid in my area.

And if you're looking at XIIIs you're probably a ways out anyway, so who knows how the '09 WRX will compare
Anyway the major point of my story (other than being bored at work) was really that it comes down to you at this point. They're both AWD, both 4 doors, and both have decent enough storage/seating space. That means it comes down to performance, looks, and the interior quality/comfort, and maybe a few other factors like modding etc. But really, all those things are personal preference. I know plenty of people who would rather drive a raw uncompromising Evo for 10 years then to lose out on a little rawness/performance for the WRX. Then again, we all know people like that, and people who would rather give up on a lot of performance/rawness to drive their Camrys and Accords. So it really comes down to personal preference. And if you like both nearly equally enough, then it comes down to cost.
One thing you should also be factoring in besides all the normal stuff is (assuming you are financing part of the car at least) that a used Evo (VIII or IX) is going to have a much higher interest rate than you can probably get on a new WRX right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they were offering at or near 0%, and at least less than MSRP pricing. The economy downfall sucks overall, but it makes it a great time to buy a car if you can afford one, even used cars are cheaper and have lower interest rates.

Yeah same.. I got my XI for a little over 24K /w 25K miles but I bought at dealer since there are no local ones when I needed it. (Needed one now since I hit a deer and totaled old car and was paying for rental myself). X's are are insane in price (32-38K?) and they were definitely out of the question for me.
Anyway.... I hate the looks for the new WRX. Test drive them both and take the points that are posted here, as they are all good. It's a lot of money so be sure you get the one you like the most.
