Evo Suspension

Not sure if this has been asked, the search is still broken on my end.

I am interested in buying an evo soon, probably in the next couple of weeks. A question I have is about the suspension. A friend of mine mentioned "be prepared for back problems". He said that the suspension is really stiff, and small dips in the street that you wouldn't feel in any other car would be like being dropped in an evo. I am interested in getting an evo IX.

Thanks. Also sorry if this question has been asked 3956 times.

trust me, it's stiff but not to the point where you can't live with it. Its firm ride that's all...

get the MR with bilstein suspension, or a regular IX and swap MR suspension, there are plenty of people selling used

But the ride is still enjoyable? Not annoying? It will be used as my daily driver.

If you are worried go get a set of used MR strut/spring set up. They will make big difference.
You know if you are going to get a performance oriented car like evo you should know that ride will be on the stiff side

Why do people listen to friends? Does he/she have an Evo?

Its not "really" stiff. Yes, its not a Benz, you will feel the road. Thats the whole point to the car.

Get it, drive it, enjoy it!

The MR suspension is definitely not annoying. It's been my DD for 2 years now.

Its not bad at all, it feels sure footed. If your not used to it, then yeah it will seem bumpy at first depending on what you drove before. Now I notice how soft other cars are. Heck, my evo used to make my girl sick when I first got it

If you are worried about back problems... you should be looking into a grand Marquis or a Caddilac Deville...J/K

Get a GSR and swap the suspension in from an MR...And get rid of the stock advans for something less stiff.

thats what i did...rides real good and turns / stops on a dime.

is the suspension in a mr more stiff then on a regular evo or rs? I have a rs and i love the ride, not too stiff for my liking. In fact i would like it to be a little more stiff.

No, actually the ride quality has improved a little with the MR suspension. Long drives are more tolerable with the MR suspension. The Bilsteins improve ride quality without sacrificing performance. Best of both worlds!
