Evo VIII Questions

I'm planning to trade in my M3 for an '05 Evo VIII and I have some questions for you guys.

1. Do the 05's have AYC and the helical front differential?
2. How much whp will I be looking at with a turbo back exhaust and a flash from Vishnu?

Thanks in advance

1. No but it has ACD (search, some like it, some don't, I for one do not)
2. http://www.vishnutuning.com/evo.htm

SEARCH is your friend on any website. EvoM has an unbelievable amount of information and one of the strongest online resources Ive seen so happy searching and poking!

I'll have to be giving extra cash if anything, it's a 2nd gen M3 (1999) with 137k miles!

AYC & S-AYC was a UK & Japan thing and wasn't introduced to america so our cars don't have it....03-04 are non-ACD tho and 05-06 have ACD (active center diff)

Quoted off of Wiki...

"No US-spec Evolution model prior to the Evo X has active yaw control, including the 2006 Evolution IX."

Japan and the UK always get the good stuff

What's the difference between ACD and AYC?

ACD is "Active Center Differential" meaning that the differential can deliver power to the wheel that needs it.
AYC is "Active Yaw Control" meaning that the suspension can adapt to different turning conditions.

For your other question, you can expect OK gains from a turbo back and a Vishnu flash. I'm sure there are some results on here somewhere. You may want to do some more research, though. Before I got my Evo, I was dead-set on getting the Vishnu flash. But once I got it, I realized this isn't a really good idea. It is really expensive and not specific to your car or conditions. Try to find a local tuner to reflash the ECU. I prefer street tune versus dyno tune.
I started out really cheap. I got the eBay exhaust, Hallman manual boost controller, K&N drop-in filter, and a tune by a local guy. I think the total was less than 1,000 for parts and installation. I ended up with over 300whp and I love it. There is a lot of potential with these cars. Just do some research to determine the route you want to take.

Active Center Differential and Active Yaw Control. Very different mechanism. You should read my friend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_S-AWC

If I were you I would seriously think about possibly getting an EVO IX... They seem to respond a lot more to bolt ons... I do however have an 05 and I have no regrets what so ever...

I believe the RS was the only model with the front LSD correct? I know my 04 RS has it. After you poke around on this website, I think Vishnu will be off your list of who to get a flash from.

What are the downside(s) of the ACD?
And I only mentioned Vishnu knowing they have a decent chip for the 335i's

All Evo's from 05 and on had a front lsd and ACD.

04 RS is the only 03 - 04 to have a lsd in front no ACD
