Evo's have a speed governor at 155, so you can't really go faster than that unless you take it off.

Thankfully anyone with a tune has taken that off, that's how I hit 156.

And for the OP's information incase you didn't catch it, both at 80 mph:

IX MR: 3400 rpm
IX SE: 3700 rpm

Holy crap, a difference of a whopping 300 rpm!!! Don't over-rev your engine! I really didn't think they were that different, and now you know. 300 extra rpm isn't much, but I guess if you want to be nit picky, then sure, go ahead.

^^ With the governor off, you went 1 mph faster? Ouch...I thought stock Evo's would be able to go over 160. Guess not

It was a 2003 VIII with only a tbe and a tune, and maybe it was windy outside. I've heard of some going over 170 pretty easily once they've been tuned properly and have enough hp to overcome the wind resistance.

Actually, that's not true. Check your stock tune. While the provision to limit speed is there, it's set to a value high enough not to make that happen (ie. +500KPH).
