Evo reliability?

Ok, I got on this site to research many different things before I decide to get rid of my boosted si and get an evo. I noticed that there seem to be alot of issues with blown motors on these cars as per this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...n-engines.html. I was wondering what is going on with that? Is it something I should worry about? I had an 8 back in the day and had all the buschur boltons and turned up the boost and never had a problem, but I'm having to re-research everything now b/c today's a different day. I know about all the stickies and I read them, but are there any other words of encouragement, or wisdom that people want to share in general about getting an evo? Thanks for the help in advance. Btw, I'm looking at a 9.

If you read most of them are Modded, if your worried then build the engine before you mod. Simple as that. The other ones had something that caused it to go BOOM. lol If you get a good soild tune you will 99% of the time be ok.

truthfully with these cars all you gotta do is make sure that you keep the oil changed, and keep up on the timing belt change every 60k and you'll be fine. I've owned a number of DSM's and we've raced them for years and if you just take care of them and dont over look the small details you'll be fine

60k kept up with all maintenance and happy so far. The only thing I had to get warranty work with was ACD at 45k and my rotors needed to be turned at 15k miles but I haven't had a problem since. I've got all the bolt ons and recently just cammed at 60k when I had the timing belt done. Still on the stock clutch also.

Question

This puts me at ease a little more. I heard from someone that the transfer case isn't as good on the 9 as it is on the 8??? Is that true? If so, why would they change what transfer case they used?
