About to go from a 400whp Acura to an Evo 8

Hey guys, Just introducing myself. I am by no means new to the game, just new to evos. I am at the point that I am getting tired of trying to fight for traction with a 400whp+ fwd. Don't get me wrong, I love my RSX but its pointless to have this much power with a FWD.

Here is my current baby:

06' Acura RSX Type-S, Night Hawk Black Metalic, ebony interior

Engine:

Peakboost Turbo kit
T3/44 Sidemount stainless steel Turbo Manifold (Coated by HPC)
44mm Dumptube (Coated by HPC)
3' Stainless 2 pc downpipe w v-band (Coated by HPC)
Garrett GT3076 turbo (.82 AR, .60trim, S-cover)(Exhaust housing Coated by HPC)
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Tial 50mm Blow off valve
PWR 6' x 23.5' x 3' vertical flow intercooler core(total height is 12') (anodized black)
2.5' Aluminum chargepipe kit with PWR Silicon Couplers & t-bolt clamps (Piping powder coated black)
Steel braided oil/feed return lines
All installation hardware, gaskets, & heatwrap
K&N Intake filter

Besides these parts that came with the kit I am running the following:

-Hondata Kpro EMS
-GM 3bar map sensor
-GM boost control solenoid
-Peakboost Vac Block
-Billet battery tray
-Odyssey battery
-Innovative Motor Mounts
-CC stage 4 clutch
-Oil sandwich plate adapter
-hondata intake manifold gasket
-Thermal 3' exhaust
-NKG BKR9EIX plugs
-Walbro intank pump
-AEM fuel rail
-Aeromotive FPR
-RC 750cc injectors
--8an stainless fuel feed lines & -6an return lines all with Earls & Russel fittings
-Aeromotive 10 micron inline fuel filter
-RBC intake manifold
-P2R RBC adapter

Suspension:
-Tein Flex Coilovers with EDFC

Wheels & Tires:

-Volk Racing CE28N (18x8.5' +40mm offset in bronze)
-Nitto Invo tires (245/40/18)

Other:
-DC5 JDM Type-R Recaro seats (black w/ red stiching front and rear)
-Xenon Depot 6000k HIDs
-20% window tint
-Custom Wrinkle Black Valvecover
- Mugen Oil Filler Cap
-Mugen Radiator Cap
-Type-r Dipstick
- EP3 Sparkplug cover
-EP3 AC line relocation
-Autometer Ultralite Full Sweep Electronic gauges (Oil Pressure & boost)
-Autometer RSX twin gauge pod color matched to interior

Car was Tuned by Jason (aka. St00pid) at Fastlane in Houston. Car is only partially tuned for now until I can put her back on the dyno for about 4 hrs of more tuning. The car is making 400whp & 280ft/lbs of torque without any real tuning (only running a base map with a/f tuning & boost control setup)

And here is the Evo I am Look at picking up. The car is a couple hours away from me in New Orleans. I was hoping to go look at the car today but I am sick and I really don't feel like driving 3 hrs each way to look at the car, hopefully tomorrow I will feel a bit better. Hopefully by my other car you guys know that I will mod this car well, lol.

I have already called up my boy Ken at Peakboost and told him about my plans and he said he would start making my turbo kit for the car already, lol. My plans are to go wtih a GT30 top mount kit for the car, tune it with Hyrda, 1000cc injectors, full custom 3.5" exhaust that I will build myself, tein flex coilovers W/ EDFC, 18x9" Bronze CE28's, mostly stock body, red out tail lights, etc.

This is going to be my first Evo, so I will most likely ask a few questions along the way and I am going to have to read alot.

Honestly, I am not sure everything that has been done to it. When I talked to the owner he was at work and I couldn't spend much time on the phone. I know he has a new manifold and some gay *** diamond plate floor mats in her.

My first steps are going to be to de-rice her and put her to stock, then from there I am going to start building her to the specs I want to as I have time and money. The first things of order are going to be suspension, Engine Management, 3.5" exhaust & the new turbo setup, then from there I am going to get some new wheels, and probably build a carputer in the car. I am not sure my total plans for the car as of now. I am more concerned about picking up the car first. For now on a stock motor I want about 425-450 because after having a 500whp daily anything less starts to become boring.

First I wanna say beautiful RSX, very well put together. About the Evo, are you looking for a stock evo or modified?? I'd really look into that car, it already has tubular headers most likely meaning big turbo and the engine bay is not so good looking. If I were in your situation I'd consider the 9 as well.

I was really leaning more towards a stock evo but for the price of this thing I will buy it if its in as good of condition as they say it is.

For the price that they are selling the EVO 9's, I may as well just pick up an Evo X. I could never see spending almost 30k on a used evo.

Yeah, I am looking forward to having traction

Oh, I am keeping the RSX. I spent too much money on her to get rid of her.

Go to the 35r instead of the 30r on the evo they seem to make more power and no real difference in lag on the evo.

I hope your getting a good deal on the evo cause it looks a bit hacked just from the 2 pictures. Red hood vent? and red grills? AFPR? There also seems to be a ton of extra vac line and wires...

The reason I was going with a 30r is because I don't have any plans to build the motor. I also do some auto-x and the bigger turbo is not something that I really want.

I just want about 425-450whp and that is easily done with the 30r

lol, for $8k, lol

If I weren't getting it that cheap I would never ever ever pick that car up, lol

I would be looking more at a MR9 or something of that nature. But the car is a steal at this price

hey man, i know exactly how you feel about traction. i had a 450hp neon before my evo. (In the process of parting out the neon). FWD plus high hp=not that much fun. i mean, it is fun, but not getting traction til third and sometimes 4th gear can get old, fast.

also, you said you would get bored with it going from a 400hp car to a stock evo. i am in the same situation as you are, and i have had my evo for 2 months now, and it is still a blast to drive.

also i would really consider getting a 9. idk why you are saying that 9's are going for 30k, but i got mine for 24k out the door from a dealer. i say be patient, until you find a nice 9. you will not regret it

also as others said, i would steer clear of the red evo.
