newb who can't make up his mind!!!
Hey everyone, I've been interested in evo for some while now, but I have one problem! First I want to say I think this site is great and really enjoy reading the threads and DIY. My name is Brandon, I'm 21 years old and currently in the USAF in GA. I currently drive a 04 Mazda RX-8 and am just disgusted with the hp/mpg ratio. I used to own 2 DSMs one turbo one not. I am soon going to afghanistan and I am hoping to sell my ride while I'm over there and hope to come home and get in a new ride. Now for my problem, I can't decide between a 2006 Pontiac GTO or a 2006 EVO!!! the GTO has high HP protential with a great sound with amazing interior/exterior (imo) but the EVO has the boost and awd that Ive always wanted, when I was a dsm owner.. I also love the way the 06 evo looks too. I know this is biased because I'm an EVO website but if anybody has driven either let me know what you think!!! PROS/CONS
"but the EVO has the boost and awd that Ive always wanted, when I was a dsm owner.. I also love the way the 06 evo looks too" Sounds like you made up your mind =) Get the evo! You wont regret it. If you want HP!!! EVO is your choice with some basic bolts on.
haha that post made me laugh, because it's kind of true...I just really regret purchasing an RX-8 and want to make sure the next car I buy is the right car :-)
If anybody lives in south GA and could take me for a ride, I would appreciate it!! I got 1 week btw lol

Well where do you plan to live. I got to say that AWD in a place that snows is so nice. I drove a 2.2L S10 (2WD of course) for about a year and said **** it after it spun out twice going 25. I mean it did a 720 on the interstate. I'll never go RWD again. It being a truck made it worst, but FWD/AWD will always be the car I get for practicality unless I move.
Dude trust me i was in the same boat as you. I loved the way they looked and kinda wanted one. I was at work one day and found out a guy i worked with had a gg 06 mr. talked to him a little bit and he said i could have a ride if i wanted. Toke me for a ride and lets just say i got an evo of my own as soon as i found the one i wanted for a good price. Go with the evo if you love the way it looks hands down. I know i dont regret it at all.

Eh my buddy has a gto, and the looks just dont do it for me. also his car has 340whp and could only put down a 13.3 at the track. Me with 300 whp ran 12.7s all day, spinning in first. awd>rwd
I have not driven a GTO, but I owned a 1998 Camaro (first year of LS1) so it is esentially the same thing. It was a fun car. I went to a
dealership in 04 and test drove an EVO 8 but could not get it at that time. When the 06 9 came out and I heard there was not going to be an 07, I had to get one. I bought the car without a test drive (I know, kind of dumb) but would not change a thing. Nothing like the feeling of when you hit full boost.
Good luck with what you choose to do.
Sounds like you already have a biased opinion for the EVO though.

Ok well Im off to afghaniland, Ill probably be pokin around on here while over there. I think my mind is pretty much made up, although I still didn't ride in an evo, but I've rode in many AWD DSMS so well seee, thanks everyone
Too bad man. I'll be home on the 5th from Iraq and I would have let you take mine for a spin. theres only 2 in the area...mine and a RR 9. I sent you a PM so we'll look for you when you get back. By that time I might just have mine between 450-500 hp.
