Hey Guys,

Im looking to buy my first Evo

Can any one explain to me how a Turbo works?

I kinda want to know how all the parts interact with eachother.

turbo, intake, fmic, wastegate im not sure how it all relates to eachother.

Also the evo im looking at is an MR is that a good kind to get?

Im looking to do some roadracing and some drag racing as well..

let me hit you with some knowledge....

the motor spits out hot firey flamey exhaust which goes into the "turbo" where some kind of voodoo witchcraft magic happens and you go faster!

haha im just playing

Turbos are amazing! you'll love having an evo....

quick run down....its a never ending process....

Air...is...sucked into the engine by the intercooler and intake...the intercoolers job is to cool down those IAT's (Intake Air Temps).....but anyway the air is sucked in by the throttle body....enters the intake manifold and down the intake runners....air goes into the engine...combustion and more voodoo witchcraft happens....exhaust gases expell out of the engine down the exhaust manifold runners...collects at the turbine housing of the turbo....there is a turbine wheel in the turbine housing that is spun by the eshaust...connected to the turbine wheel is a shaft and on the other side of the shaft is another wheel....the compressor wheel...when the turbine wheel spins the compresser wheel spins to get it?....this wheel is amazing...the compressor side of the turbo compresses air and makes booost! which goes thru the lower intercooler piping thru the intercooler thru the upper intercooler pipe and back thru the throttle body and so on....

the blow off valve, diverter valve, bypass vlave(BOV, DV, BPV)...is used to relieve pressure off the throttle body during a shift, or whenever else you left off the throttle...any time the throttle plate is close after accleration the BOV comes in play....the BOV is important! gots to hold boost good and let it out good! we hate flutter and compressor surge!!

compressor surge is bad! its when the bov doesn't let the compressed air out fast enough and spins the compressor wheel backwards!!!! not good....

to keep your tubro alive you need oil and water!! oil feed on the top of the turbo and oil return on the bottom of the turbo...water lines of the sides to keep that baby coooool....

theres some quick info....
