Hello

Names Dave.

I got a new job that pays better so I'm looking at financing or a loan for an Evo9. I was tempted for an MR but I hear the 6 speed isn't really that great for putting down power? I don't know much about these cars so I'm hoping someone can clarify.

But the main reason of the post. There is a local dealership here in Ky that has one for sell. One owner. The guy is in the Army where I work so if I can find him I can get more details about the car and the mods.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

That's the car. Almost 60k miles. What it doesn't show is that it has had some work done to it by the owner. Aftermarket cam shafts (not sure of the brand, i'll try and find out), I/H/E, I was told by a friend that the exhaust manifold has a slight crack in it, boost gauge, boost controller (greddy profec s?), turbo timer (also from greddy), HKS blow off valve, and I think that's it. I'm not sure, like I said I'll find out here soon.

The car looks in great condition. Paint is good, interior leather is good. Salesman tried to pass it off as an MR but it's not. It's a 5 speed with no vortex generators, etc. The only bad part about the car is the mods voiding any kind of current/future warranty, and third gear grinds a little. And the salesman tried to tack on another 4 grand. Instead of 21.8, they asked me for 26k. Which I'm not going for so I'm sure that price will come down. If not I'm walking out the door.

So my main question is, even if I get it back to 21.8 or close, would this car be worth it? Does it sound like more trouble and hassle than it's worth?

Thanks for the help fellas.

EDIT: and the worst part for me, the boost gauge and the timer are kinda hanging down the sides of the center console. If it's worth the pickup and I get good feedback about it, I'll have to clean it up! Ack!

welcome aboard bud,

im not from the states and dont live there so cant comment on the pricing, but I would have the car checked from back to front, upside down, wrong way round, think you get my drift. It sounds like there's a couple little problems, but if the can be diagnosed then you could beat the dealer down with that knowledge. the evo is a very reliable car, and plenty of parts out there to get anything fixed. see if you can get an evo expert from your area to go take a look at it with you, im sure you'll find someone on here that willing to go with you for an hour or so. good luck

PASS PASS PASS first of all let me help you out some the hks bov is the WORSE BOV you can put on a evo. it causes the car to idle funny and stall majority of the time. Now anytime you hear gears grinding thats syncos in the transmission is on its way out. So that car will need a rebuild of the tranny soon thats 895 from sheps or br for a stronger rebuild right off top. not to mention the warranty is long gone and voided because of the mods. you dont buy a evo for warranty anyways. The dealer is trying to rip you off. if you pay 21.8 then thats crazy. with the crappy idle im pretty sure the car has a shotty TUNE as well. so the car will need a new bov tune and tranny off top. then no telling other things that could be going on. Guages hanging please!!! if i were you keep it moving plenty of better evos for sale good luck
