Buying my first evo(?)
Buying my first evo(?)
Hey guys, on my way to school this morning, I passed AutoSource, and saw (what I thought was) a Bentley for $16k. When I went there after school, it turned out it was a Chrysler 300 (the emblem on the from looked like the Bentley emblem, and it had a B in the center). Lol, stupid me.
Anyway, I was browsing around in there, and I saw a 2006 Evo9 RS. I know nothing about cars really, and I wanted your opinion (and I have a few questions).
First off, here's the details of it.

Well, my questions are:
1. I don't know how to drive stick. Is it worth buying a car and learning, or is it something that's learned over time? (How hard is it to learn).
2. Is it too expensive? What do you think I could talk it down to?
3. Anything else I should know or ask the dealer about?
Extra stuff:
The rims are Enkei, but a bit scratched up, and I don't know if those are stock seats or aftermarket.

it is an evo ix but the owner switched out the stock ix seats with the stock blue viii seats along with the tail lights and dash trim. the price seems way way too high considering thats how much it costed back in 2006 when it came out from the factory with 0 miles on it

I don't know what prices are like in Hawaii, but that seems high to me. Maybe try posting in the regional and see if anyone knows the car.
If I were you, I would pass and buy something a little more user friendly. RS has no power windows and no automatic locks, etc. which will get really annoying if you are not a real car nut.
Driving stick is not hard, unless you deal with stop and go in the hills.
The chances are the dealer will not know **** about Evos, and even if they do it is their business to make you want the car.
If you decide to get it, make sure and have someone who knows Evos check it out for you.

^^^Yes
But to answer ur questions.
1.) Don't use the Evo as a guiny pig to drive stick, learn firs then buy it. Don't wanna ruin ur clutch.
2.) Yes, that car seems expensive. As stated above, don't know prices in Hawaii, but around here we could get that kind of car for aound $20000 more or less.
3.) Need to ask dealer is they have a GSR or MR Evo IX beacause u lose all creature comforts when u buy the RS.

^good call. Its way too expensive plus from the looks of it, the car has been beat on then put back to stock with what most people will agree are inferior parts from the evo viii.
The dash trim is correct. In the IX RS, it's the dull grey instead of the faux CF trim of the other IX's. OP, if you're serious about buying an Evo, shoot me an email. I've put together a very comprehensive buyer's guide for people like yourself. It comes from a lot of the questions we use to evaluate vehicles for our clients.
Please let me know if I may help and good luck with your search!

Do not learn how to drive stick on an evo. If anything ask a friend to teach you. I learned to drive stick at 16 the only thing that killed me was the infamous hills lol I was scared of rolling backwards. I'm good at driving stick now I am 19, I'm glad my dad wanted me to learn manual and nothing else. I hate automatic sometimes after a week in a manual, I will try to engage my (clutch pedal) in my automatic pontiac lmao. It comes natural after awhile
